Lil Nas X Claps Back At Dave East For Using Homophobic Jamaican Slur
It seems Dave East has been spending too much, or maybe not enough time with Popcaan.
The American rapper has come under fire after using a homophobic Jamaican slur to illustrate how he felt about fellow rapper Lil Nas X’s Halloween costume.
X had dressed up as Nicki Minaj, in what many believe to be a tribute to the rapper that he is a big fan of. In years past, the rapper is said to have ran a ‘stan’ Instagram account dedicated to the female artiste.
Decked out in pink giraffe print unitard and wig, he sought to recreate Minaj’s look from her Superbass music video.
However, while it seems that that a lot of persons adored his get up, rapper Dave East seemingly did not.
Taking to social media, the Unruly rapper called Lil Nas a “bati mon”.
He wrote on his Instagram “And y’all was mad at me about this ni–a,” alongside an aggregated Instagram post of Lil Nas X’s Halloween costume.

“Bati mon bun up!!!!” he wrote in another post, before adding, “I gotta move to Jamaica, @PopcaanMusic on my wayyyyy chubble”.
East and dancehall artiste Popcaan recently collaborated on the track Unruly and he even came to Jamaica to shoot the official music video.
However, this did not go down well with Lil Nas X who first sought to correct East on his misuse of Jamaican patios.
“It’s “batty man” n-ggas can’t even be homophobic the proper way smh butchering the hell out of the patois,” he clapped back on Twitter.
“Batty man” is a term made popular in the Jamaican dialect or patois, as a way to depict homosexual males.
Lil Nas X continued his retort on Twitter with “bro I don’t bother a soul in this industry. All I do is tweet and make bangers. Leave me alone damn,” he stated.
Since then fans have come out in defense of the Grammy-winning rapper, bashing Dave East for his apparent lack of success compared to Lil Nas X.
One wrote “I don’t think Dave East even have the RIGHTS TO SPEAK ON Lil Nas X until he get a #1 song on the charts running 45 weeks straight. What he needs to do is leave Lil Nas X alone and worry about charting something lol”.
Another responded with “Your obsession you have with the LGBTQ community is getting weird. Do you have anything to share with the class? Dave East”
Another wrote “I still can’t name a single Dave East song so who cares what he has to say, while other quipped “Dave East got imaginary beef with Lil Nas X and that sums up his career. He’s having The Games’ decline without hitting those heights”.
Lil Nas X came out as gay in July 2019 in a song called c7osure and since then has become the one of the most high profile rappers. His song Old Town Road a collaboration with country singer Billy Ray Cyrus has since anchored itself to the top of the charts and he has won a number of awards.
