Chronic Law Starts Record Label, 1Law Entertainment/1Law Records
Dancehall artiste Chronic Law is seemingly flexing his entrepreneurial muscle as he launches his own label and his own line of merchandise amid his rise as a dancehall artiste.
Speaking on Onstage, the 6ix squad member indicated that he has launched 1Law Entertainment/1Law Records in his native St Thomas. He went on to describe the set up as an “official studio” that looks “boasty”.
In relation to the start up of the label, the Count My Blessings singer noted “me now me feel like me reach pan a level where me can help more youths like me to same way. Yea so 1Law Entertainment and 1Law Records we a pree fi jus get some artiste out deh same way” he remarked.
The Hillside singer notes that he has already started the recruitment of artistes for this venture. “Right now still Shaqstar of Seaforth, listen da name deh, 1Law artiste, yea man”.
He also indicated that Fire Dupes is also onboard with a “whole heap’ more up and coming talent.
“All new but dem have a buzz, people know dem man, dem a buzz, dem soon get the big break” he declared about his new charges.
Chronic Law further explained that his support in this venture comes from persons close to him like family even if they are not biological. “A di family man, na go outside di family, mi say 1Law 6ix same way, a blood man, blood mi call dem, mi no believe inna nutten else, blood dem name” he explained.
He notes that the affairs of the entity will be managed by his own manager, Bashy.
Despite this move, he notes that he still very much a member of the Montego Bay-based 6ix family, which is led by Dancehall artiste Squash. “Wi family up and running same way, unstoppable and na no weh inno, we still strong inna di music, still have the unity same way and we still a put out nuff work same way,” he disclosed.
Some of that work is a recent collaboration featuring Squash and the Gaza Boss himself, Vybz Kartel. The track Money We Love has been trending steadily since it’s release days ago and it’s expected to become a chart-topper.
Another track Self Protection has been generating a buzz and the artiste notes it is getting “big love” since it’s release but was quick to point out that he is not encouraging anyone to do anything illegal. “First things first me na tell nobody to get no illegal firearm fi demself, self protection now a whole heap a fight out deh inna real life inno”.
“You have legal firearm you can get don’t, so if you can get one , get one cause it necessary some a di time cause member inno some a di time people just see you wid your tings an want it. Yea and the wickedest ting a when friend become enemy too, so a whole heap a ting out deh and you haffi protect yourself” he related as to his feelings behind the track.
He later went on to explain that his line of merchandise will soon be available although it will be mainly shirts. “A just mostly shirts man, pull over, all different type a shirt but soon go at probably all sneakers to, a just time, but fi now a just shirt” he remarked when quizzed about the clothing venture. He notes that clothing comes because of the interest from fans who have reaching out in that regard.
Law, a member of the 6ix collective, has been making a name for himself since he got his breakthrough just under two years ago. Rolling with fellow stablemates Squash and Daddy1, he is now considered among the future of dancehall.
