Popcaan, Spice Remember Late Dancehall Artiste J Capri
Dancehall artiste Popcaan took to Instagram on Wednesday (November 4) to remember the late J Capri.
The Unruly Boss shared a photo of Capri which he captioned, “Miss you J wish you was here”.
Popcaan’s post seems to have struck a chord with many, particularly those in the industry, who reflected on Capri’s legacy noting that she was a “promising” artiste whose life was cut short.
“She left way too soon Jah know,” said fellow artiste Spice.
“Wayy to soon. I know she would of been mashing up the place with nuff good music,” added a budding music producer.
It is not unusual for Popcaan to reminisce on Capri’s legacy, as around this same time in 2019, the artiste shared a photo of her with a similar caption.
“Miss you Jay, you would be so big right now. Your future was super bright!!!! RIP to your beautiful soul. I know you shining wherever you are. Miss you fam,” said Popcaan back in 2019 on Instagram.
While J Capri and Popcaan had no collaborations together, it is understood that the pair were good friends, with many having reported seeing Capri at the studio with Pappi.
Popcaan was featured in J Capri’s 2014 video, Lyrics to the song.
Born Jordan Phillips, J Capri died a week after she had been involved in a car crash on November 23, 2015.
Capri died in hospital on December 4 of that year, plunging the dancehall community into sadness.
The young artiste’s death is often cited as the turning point in Lady Saw‘s career.
Following Capri’s death, Lady Saw announced that she would be canceling all her shows and would be making her exit from the dancehall music scene.
