Buju Banton, Kanye West Team Up To Donate Computers To Two Children’s Homes In Jamaica
Buju Banton and the Buju Banton Foundation with the help of Kanye West are doing their part to make learning during the COVID-19 pandemic a bit easier for some of Jamaica’s most vulnerable youths.
The iconic Dancehall artiste donated computer devices to students at two children’s homes in Jamaica – the Sunbeam Children’s Home and Mount Olivet Boy’s Home.
The computer donations will help students at these homes to participate in online learning and meet their educational needs.
Banton made the donations through his Buju Banton Foundation, giving each of the 40 boys at the Sunbeam Children’s Home in St Catherine a device. The veteran also donated desktop computers and chairs to the Mount Olivet Boy’s Home in Manchester.
Without providing any details, the Foundation’s Instagram page disclosed that American Rapper Kanye West contributed to Banton’s donation of computer devices to the boys at the two children’s homes.
The caption stated, in part, “Thanks Kanye West for contributing to our mission to improve the lives of at-risk boys.”
Earlier in September, the rapper linked Buju Banton at his Gargamel studio in Kingston. West tweeted a photo that captioned, “GREATNESS IN THE MAKING”, an indication of a possible collab between the rap sensation and the reggae veteran.
One photo shared by the Buju Banton Foundation depicts a handshake between Buju and Mr. Patrick Newman, Administrator at Mount Olivet Boy’s Home, who received an envelope with unknown content, and Rosemary Duncan, Director, Buju Banton Foundation with a laptop in hand. Another photo shows Buju and a young lad, each sitting with a laptop on their laps, perhaps communicating something interesting about the device.
The Foundation is grateful to the supporters of the organization and expressed in a portion of the caption, “Friends of Buju Banton Foundation, We Thank You!
Fans commented on the post sharing different but pleasant thoughts about the charitable donations to the children’s homes.
Kanye may not be one fan’s favourite person but, he acknowledges his kind gesture stating, “Not a Kanye fan but kudos to him for his contributions. Blessings to all who made it possible.”

Recognizing that this donation goes a long way, a fan shared, “Thank you Mark for your continued support of our vulnerable youths.”
Buju has long been a philanthropist and this latest donation adds to his charitable work.
In July of this year, Banton donated his 3-million dollar cash prize from Jamaica’s Festival Song Competition to the Sunbeam Boys Home after winning the competition with his song titled, I Am A Jamaican.
This computer donation plays a part in ensuring that Jamaica’s youths get the chance to advance academically during these unprecedented times.
Big up to Buju and his Foundation for their donations to these students at these children’s homes.
