Yanique ‘Curvy Diva’ Drops Afrobeat Inspired Tune

Dancehall artiste Yanique ‘Curvy Diva’ Barrett on Wednesday (November 25) dropped a afrobeat inspired tune on what would have been her late mom’s birthday.

The song premiered on Barrett’s Instagram Live.

Barrett teamed up with trending Nigerian based Afrobeat artiste Solid Star for a remake of his original “Eleganza” single released more than a year ago.

The Eleganza Remix blends the best of Jamaica and Nigeria, with the saucy and sultry sound of Yanique’s vocals to Solid Star’s masculine melody and definitely showcases another dimension of Curvy Diva’s range of abilities.

The timing of the release of the remix was deliberate with Yanique wanting to pay tribute to her late mother who supported her career even though it went against the grain of their strict Seventh Day Adventist upbringing.

“Doing this premiere on her birthday means so much to me because even though she never followed up dancehall she always believed I could do anything I set my mind to; this my way of letting her know that I’m gonna continue to make her proud of me in everything I do,” Yanique said.

The Jamaican artiste also shared that the remix was apart of her larger ” Underestimated” project which was to be released in 2021.

“The EP will showcase my ability to tap into different flows and sounds that my fans have never heard before and that’s why it’s called Underestimated,” Yanique added.

The Underestimated EP will have seven tracks with a mix of Afrobeat, Dancehall, R&B, Reggae and Trap sounds.
