In the wake of Foota Hype’s criticism about Jesse Royal’s participation in a Digicel “Santa Claus advertisement”, the Rastafarian Reggae artiste has stood his ground, sharing the “I love when its Christmas time” jingle and even making a dismissive clap-back video, aimed at the Dancehall music selector.

A few days ago an upset Foota Hype had lambasted the Gimme Likkle Herb artiste for what he described as the “promotion of Santa Claus”, in contravention of the tenets of the artiste’s own Rastafarian faith.

Foota, whose given name is Oneil Thomas, had said, among other things, that he was disappointed and ashamed of the 31 year old artiste, as by ‘joining forces’ with Santa Claus and by extension, endorsing Christmas, he had forsaken the Rastafari doctrine to which he professes to adhere.

But on Tuesday Jesse Royal, in a show of defiance, shared the video for the Digicel jingle which he captioned: “Prizes anyone?  This Christmas, shake more, share more, WIN more! Lots of prizes to be won when you shake and share with the My Digicel app!  What’s one thing you would like to win or gift to someone this Christmas? #DigicelChristmas #DigicelShakeToWin #DigicelShakeAndShare”

Jesse was praised by fellow artiste Chronixx who posted “Drip” to which the Maroon town native responded: “@chronixxmusic Mineral Wata Mi Fam”.

His girlfriend Kandi King also posted: “Proud of youuuuuuuuuu!!” to which Royal replied; “Love u bad!”

A day later Jesse sought to brush off Foota’s criticisms in the 12 second video clip, which he captioned: “Facts Of Life… #Blessed #SmallAxe #NattyPablo #IHearMyCreator #LionOrder”.

“A wise man once said to me, don’t teck criticism from people you won’t teck advice from, mmm, a truth,” he stated.

He was given the thumbs up and other signs of support from his fellow artistes including Protoje, Iba Mahr and Romain Virgo, as well as Lila Ike who posted: “Tr8888 Kmft”.

Some of his fans like blacklivesmatter4002020 immediately sensed that the post was aimed at Foota and aimed their comments at the veteran selector, who later on “liked” the post.

“Facts… Some man just bad mind you for your corporate world and corporate Girl,” blacklivesmatter4002020 posted before later adding: “The man a wonder as a Rasta how corporate love you so.   So him want to come on live with you to talk and try out talk you to say him educated. Just to be seen by people who don’t see him. Man fi know him place over the fully dunce corner.”

One follower, whoissplash, tagged Foota in his comment, contending that the Cassava Piece native’s comments showed a lack of respect for Jesse.

“How you @footahypemusic claim to respect a man, but on the other hand yuh a pree how him dress and look, criticize how him run him business and then disrespect that man in public? Use your platform to promote positivity and I guarantee you that you will help more,” he wrote.

However there were a handful of commenters who expressed disagreement with the Finally artiste’s comments.

“Another wiseman accepts and questions his critics regardless of who they may be in order to potentially better himself and craft,” strykadon said, while uniquevision1 stated: “You can listen and pick sense out nonsense regardless who the person is , inspiration don’t choose its random”.

Interestingly, unlike other times when Foota would be bombarded with insults for being openly critical  of other entertainers, and slammed for “chatting too much” or “minding other people’s business”, this time he got massive support for his public reprimand of Jesse Royal on YouTube.

“Bun them out fake Rasta you are the only one we have to fight for righteousness Babylon system and illuminati control them I wish Peter Tosh was a live love you and be safe,” Tatline Howard said.

“Upful bethren, that’s reason why now Africa start making they’re own ital music those fake rasta should stop singing about Africans, Africa don’t like them fake rasta anymore Truth is hurt,” The Element proffered.

Some of Foota’s fans took the opportunity to also land their own assessment of Jesse and his actions.

One follower warm trees, was very curt in his comment.

‘The Ras a move like a modern day Judas!!’ he declared.

“Him sing a song name Modern Day Judas and it turns out a him a the Judas. What kind a Santa Claus crap Rasta mix up in?  A we bun Christmas and santa fraud with them pagan holiday,” Otis Hyman said, while rene g12 wrote: “Promoting Santa as a rasta is like promoting sugar as a dentist.”
