Wasp Urges Fans Not To Retaliate For His Shooting

Dancehall deejay Wasp is making an urgent appeal to his fans not to engage in any acts of retaliation or reprisals in the wake of his shooting by an unknown attacker last week.

“I am asking everyone to stay calm, and not to hurt anyone who they might think is responsible…I have heard a name being pushed around. I don’t know who the shooter is, I don’t know who attacked me or where it is coming from, so I am encouraging everyone to be safe and to let the police do their investigations,” Wasp  told DancehallMag.

“Don’t attempt to hurt anyone on behalf of Wasp, no reprisals, let the police do their thing.”

Wasp said that he returned to Cassia Park the day after the shooting incident.

“I am definitely moving more cautiously now, when mi a roll, mi ah move like I know I have an enemy. Now, I am moving in more secure levels,” he said.

Wasp said that the hand is “healing well’.

“The hand is moving normally and functioning well, I am not feeling any excessive pain because of the painkillers and the doctor changed the bandage recently, so things are going well…God is good,” he said.

In the wake of the shooting, Wasp has released two singles — The Oath on the Portmore Society imprint and My Soul (Silver Diamond label).

“Mi jus’ a focus on continuing this amazing work that I’m doing by releasing a lot of new music that I’m doing,” he said.

According to the Corporate Communications Unit, Wasp — given name Marvin Clarke — was shot and injured in an incident in the Kingston 10 area on Wednesday, about 9:15 pm. According to the report, one man with a gun walked up to the entertainer, shot him in the arm and escaped. He was taken to the hospital, where he was treated and released.
