Trap Dancehall Trendsetter Rygin King Working On New Album
Fans of trap dancehall trendsetter Rygin King’s inspiring progress recently got an update on his upcoming album. The Tuff emcee has had a tumultuous 2020, making a full recovery after he was shot by unknown assailants back in June. Stepping back into the studio with renewed focus, fans were delighted with his latest releases such as the upful clapback at his attackers, Mission and the girl’s anthem, Glu.
Many wondered whether he still planned to or would even be able to complete the project he announced earlier this year called Trap Dancehall. Rygin King, however, captioned a since-deleted post, “Working on the album #trapking #oneking,” alluding to the dancehall subgenre that’s brought the 3ZN and 7Teen deejay the lion’s share of his success.

Though no release date was included in the post, the timeline could be set for early 2021, which would see its arrival coinciding with those from dancehall princess Shenseea as well as 6ix captain, Squash. Rygin King and the 6ix have also been openly mourning the sudden death of prominent Montego Bay-based personality and 6ix associate DJ National, who was killed in a car crash last weekend.
When harrowing footage of Rygin King surfaced after he was shot in the brazen attack, it was widely rumored that he was crippled, and he had to undergo several intensive surgeries on his road to recovery. Still shaken by his own circumstances, the entertainer grieved the loss of his friend in an IG caption below a short video clip. “Jah kno mi bredda kmt s.i.p 2020 is jus a f— up year,” he wrote.

Others who posted condolences include Teejay, Shabdon Records and members of the 6ix crew.
Lucky to be alive as 2020 closes, the deejay whose hits include One Time and Things Go Change seems to be setting up to hit the ground running in 2021 with his new album, while he keeps ‘aiming for victory’.
