Mr. Vegas Blasts Minister Marion Hall For Addressing “Reader Man” Saga
Dancehall singjay Mr. Vegas is feeling a little salty about Minister Marion Hall speaking out against spiritual advisor Nardo ‘RT Boss’ Smith.
The entertainer, who had dialed it back on his infamous rant videos, is back in action, this time to call out the former dancehall star Lady Saw for being a “hypocritical Christian”.
Hall has steered clear of dancehall discourses since baptizing in 2015, but said God told her to send Smith’s “demonic” spirit back to the pit of hell, after he accused her of using obeah on deejay Spice years ago.
But Mr. Vegas is criticizing Hall’s actions, saying she pronounced Lady Saw dead five years ago, and shouldn’t be responding to matters relating to the dead.
“Unno Bible seh avoid foolish controversies, it mean nuh tek part inna it,” he said in a recent Instagram Live. “How the obeah man call smaddi weh dead name and people come a defend the dead?… The person is no longer alive, that spirit is dead and unno come outta church come a defend dead spirit.”
It was just in April that the deejay held a virtual memorial service for Lady Saw.
Mr. Vegas believes the minister responded because she is envious of the current Dancehall space, which has seen more women come to the fore.
“After unno cuss dancehall and talk bout dancehall a Devil music and unno see the likkle sister dem and the likkle Shenseea and Jada Kingdom dem and dem a run di place…unno a try screechie back inna dancehall come a talk bout unno ‘soon alright’… When yuh have Jesus everything is alright. Unno cya trick nobody bout yah again.”
Hall recently teased an upcoming track with the hook “Mi Soon Alright” which Mr. Vegas said is an indication that she is not financially well-off on her Christian walk.
“Me a di youth weh come forward and tell unno seh don’t run left unno food because we can sing dancehall and sing clean dancehall music,” he said. “We nah fi stop sing dancehall music fi praise God. But unno come come tell people seh dancehall music a devil music and unno gone pon di other side but one likkle man come call dead spirit name and unno run come back a talk bout unno ‘soon alright’.”
He reflected on his own whippings as a man of God, from being ushered out of church to being labelled confused because of his occasional waltz with gospel music. He said the public wouldn’t have been as understanding had he done what Hall did.
“A bet if me did inna church and somebody call Vegas name and mi come out a defend Vegas unno woulda seh, ‘But him inna church…a pray him shoulda pray for di people dem’. So how we nuh see nuh nobody come out come pray for nobody soul inna dis controversy?
“Yuh fi come bout yah as the elder and a try calm dung dah fire yah weh a gwaan between the sisters dem, yuh come a dash oil inna di fire. So weh we a tek it next, Sting? Reader man versus dead spirit?”
Like Macka Diamond, he believes the entire saga was staged, and is awaiting the next celebrity social media brawl. Should online users be so lucky, it may just be another video of Mr. Vegas crying about a philandering partner as was the case in 2012.
“It coming like seh we just siddung a wait pon a next story, mi need a gyal fi bun mi again. Mi need a next bun because unno waiting for a next story.”
