Damage Musiq Has Breakout 2020 With 41 million Streams Of Tommy Lee Sparta’s ‘Blessings’
The year 2020 has been a breakout one for Damage Musiq Recording label and its chief executive officer Dwayne ‘Damage Musiq’ Parkinson. In a year where the music business has been crippled by canceled shows, nixed tours, curfews and lockdowns, Parkinson has been able to continuously produce music that motivates and elevates the human soul.
“It’s been a tough year and in these times, we need songs to motivate us through these pandemic times. My productions are like soul food, to give you a positive mindset to elevate your mood and your thoughts,” Damage Musiq said.
The formula appears to be paying excellent dividends as he produced the single, Tommy Lee Sparta’s Blessings that racked up over 41 million streams across all platforms. The song charted on iTunes charts in Dominica where it peaked at #38 as well as Saint Kitts and Nevis, Antigua and Barbuda, Grenada, and British Virgin Islands.
Damage Musiq also produced Teejay’s transcendent and celebratory Rags to Riches that has racked up over 14.6 million views in 2020. He has produced other standout songs which include Chronic Law’s Bless Me, Rygin King’s Me, Myself and I and Teejay’s Baller in a year studded with club bangers for Damage Music.
Damage Music also made major strides as he produced Wale’s Realest Thing on the Billionaire Sheikh rhythm which also featured top flight artistes like Beenie Man with the hit song, Timeline.
Parkinson plans to keep the hits churning in 2021.
“I have two young acts to introduce to the world, and I will be releasing their EP with major surprise collabs,” he said.
The Damage Musiq EP will consist of various top tier artistes and will be dubbed The Journey. Parkinson will also introduce a new artiste called Davancce with a new single called Never Surrender.
Parkinson hails from Montego Bay in St. James and has emerged as one of the most powerful young producers of this generation with a unique signature style that focuses on positive narratives in dancehall.
Years ago, he scored hits with Tommy Lee Sparta’s song “Soul Reaper “, and “Last Days” by Shane O as well as the ‘Diamond Blessing’ EP with Tommy Lee Sparta which was released in 2017. He scored major hits with the ‘High Supremacy’ and ‘Conquest Paradise’ rhythm projects.
Damage Musiq was featured on the track, ‘Mama Stories’ from Shatta Wale’s ‘Reign’ album which debuted at #6 on the Billboard World charts. Parkinson plans to launch a foundation to push his philanthropic pursuits.
“I helped to develop my home community centre in Belmont, St. James, and I want to take on similar projects to help my community in 2021,” Damage Musiq said.
