Popcaan On Usain Bolt’s New Song: ‘Help The Youths With Real Musical Talent’
Leave it to the Unruly Boss to say exactly what’s on his mind, even if it’s to the face of one of Jamaica’s very prized treasures. It seems Popcaan didn’t feel like holding anything back when he spotted sprint legend, Usain Bolt promoting his latest single, Living The Dream on his Instagram page today.
Usain posted a clip of himself and girlfriend, Kasi Bennett vibing in the studio to his new song, which features long-time friend and manager Nugent ‘NJ’ Walker. He told his followers that his verse would go by very ‘fast,’ prompting them to listen keenly but Poppy wasn’t having any of it.
“Wid all due respect legend, me feel like you fi just help up some youth wid real musical talent! Them dey ya nuff,” Popcaan commented.
The Dancehall star continued: “NJ a mi fam, but please just give some hungry youth wey actually have the talent tha platform deh,” and ended by wishing Bolt a Happy New Year.
It didn’t matter to Popcaan that Usain and NJ’s new single was a motivational narrative to encourage the youths to believe in themselves and never give up on their dreams. A mantra, Bolt said was inspired by his personal journey as a youth from humble beginnings.
There’s no telling if the track legend has taken any offense to the Unruly Boss’s suggestion, after all it appears he was coming from a sincere and respectful place. Poppy has used his own celebrity to help others in the music industry and known to have given a few talented youths their big break.
It’s no secret Usain is a huge Dancehall fan (and even occasional producer) so he may very well channel his love for the music differently. In the meantime, the world record holder says fans can look forward to more music from him soon. His new single is the first of several projects scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2021.
“I have a juggling that various recording artistes are featured on. We believed Living The Dream was a perfect way to start the new year coming out of a challenging 2020. This is actually the first single from an EP (that) NJ and I have coming out later this year,” Bolt shared with The Star.
The Living The Dream music video is currently trending in the top 20 on YouTube (Jamaica) with more than 100k views after streaming for 2 days. Watch below –
