Dancehall Artist Ishawna Gives Fans Rare Glimpse Into Family Life

It is a side of Dancehall artiste Ishawna, that fans don’t get to see too much of – her private family life.  However, the artiste gave fans a sneak peak into that aspect of her life over the weekend as she celebrated her grandmother’s 80th birthday and spent some time with her teenaged son.

Ishawna, who is currently in New York shared on her Instagram (IG) story that her grandmother, Ruby, had turned 80-years-old.

The artiste cozied up next to her astonishingly young-looking grandmother for a few snaps, showcasing the birthday festivities held to celebrate the occasion. Ishawna also used the opportunity to describe the close relationship she enjoys with her grandmother, who she credits as having helped raised her.

The artiste’s family-inspired posts continued with Ishawna sharing on the platform rare footage of her 14-year-old son, Oshawn Thomas, who she has managed to successfully keep out of the public’s eye.

In a seconds-long video posted on her IG page, the artiste is heard saying “Hello” as she seeks to capture her son’s attention who is seen deeply concentrated on his phone.

Following his mom’s attention-grabbing salutation, Oshawn is seen shyly smiling for the camera as he twiddles with his hair and rubs his eye.

Many fans upon seeing the video reacted with shock, with some noting that this was the first time they had seen Ishawna’s son.

“First mi a see him….damn him look like her bad,” said one fan in the comment section.

“Shawna he looks just like you, especially from teenage years,” added another.

Oshawn is child of Ishawna and selector Foota Hype, he had previously lived with both parents up until the age of eight.  Following the couple’s split in 2014, Oshawn moved to New Jersey to live with Ishawna’s family.
