In the latest episode between the Unruly Boss & the Unbothered Ms. Rona™, Popcaan continues to poke fun at his cool-headed Christian mom. Dancehall fans haven’t seen any of the usual antics between the playful pair in a bit, and the Instagram video clip the artist shared today was of course full of fun and jokes.

In the comments section, however, a fan/upcoming artist triggered a quick clap back from the Have It deejay when he compared Ms. Rona’s looks to the late Pop Smoke.

Though Popcaan and his mom were rocking the same hairdo, thankfully for fans their sense of humor is still worlds apart. The plaits were probably what prompted @iamogswagg’s wisecrack “why your mom look like Pop Smoke”, whose legacy includes his signature hairstyle dubbed  ‘Pop Smoke braids’.

Though he apologized and insisted that his quip “came out wrong”, the 876GUD was obviously not having it. In the most liked comment below the post, Popcaan shot back, “go force up yo big face inna yo muma!!!!”

Another fan who wrote “we need daily mini series with you n her” echoed the sentiments of his 2.4 million followers, as the timeline just isn’t the same without their flippant back and forth.

“Longtime unu nuh see the boss!!! Happy new year mama❤️😂”, Popcaan captioned the first ‘episode’ of 2021.

This time around, Ms. Rona is on her phone when ‘Pops’ starts poking around in her conversation and asking his mother, who’s a pastor, if there’s “tequila shots” in her water bottle. “Yuh see you Pops”, Ms. Rona sighs, “mi nuh inna no argument wid you enuh.” Poppy’s response? “Why?”

Known for bringing up the most ironic topics around his religious mom, Poppy teased her about Jesus as usual, but there was no sight of the “big ganja spliff’ he normally offers her, as heard in previous videos and in a skit on 2020’s FIXTAPE

Seeing two soursops she plans to make juice with, he cheekily tells her, “a me name Soursop weh murda Peaches”, alluding to his acting debut in Netflix’s The Intent 2: The Come Up, as Jamaican crime lord ‘Soursop’ who orders a hit on his cheating girlfriend Peaches. Ms. Rona simply asks if he’s crazy, making sure to remind him, “Mi name yuh Andrae Sutherland.”

Jada Kingdom, Shaniel Muir and hundreds of others were amused by the Sunday antics, filling up the comments with laughing emojis, while Unruly Squid wrote of her superstar brother Andrae, “if annoying was a person.”
