Mr. Lexx ‘Feels A Way’ About Low Views For His Music On Instagram, Compared To Funny Memes
Veteran Dancehall deejay Mr. Lexx wants to know why his music doesn’t get the same engagement on Instagram as his posts about funny memes.
The artiste, who usually posts funny videos and photos in his Story and on his feed, placed all jokes aside to confront his following of more than 70,000.
“Why is it when time mi post a bad song it only get like a few views and a few comments but then if mi post some f–kery or long out mi tongue is a uproar, like nobody else inna di world nuh long out dem tongue?” he asked in a video.
“But then if mi post a bad song it doesn’t get the same. I’m not upset, I’m just tryna figure it all out so mi can gi unno weh unno waan because I just wanna know if you just want me post f–kery and not post anything about my career…”
His thoughts follow a post he made about his latest release, Whatsapp Number , which features Sound Bwoy. The promotional clip has only garnered less than 2000 views since its upload three days ago.
“My last post, that was a bad song…mi nah even gas it or nothing,” he said. “Mi just a try figure out what the f–k though, fi real. Who are all these people following me? Like dem don’t really give a sh*t about what the f**k I’m doing musically, clearly. I don’t know, I’m just assuming, I don’t want to assume nothing so I just want unno tell me cause it nuh look right.”
He added deejay Spice‘s viral phrase, “Mi feel a way, mi feel a bloodcl–t way.”
Some folks opted to offer Mr. Lexx some reasons behind his predicament, including his peer Tanya Stephens. “Don’t take it personal,” she started.
“When you post jokes you attract people who are looking for jokes. Ppl looking for jokes are mostly not here for music. They don’t come for EVERYTHING, just what THEY want and you already summed it up…they want f–kry. No science nuh inna it.”
She added, “If you think about it real deep…we do the same thing to the ppl whose f–kry we share.”
For singer Gramps Morgan, it’s just a case of “mankind is unjust mi bredda.”
Other followers shared their two cents.
“Mate you can’t make everybody happy, just carry on doing your thing and BLESS up yourself,” said one.
Another added, “People love the comedy mi general but you a bad dj and dem know to” while one fan said, “Gotta study the algorithms bro.”
“F–kry a di new normal bredda…a dat everybody seem to gravitate to, not positive things.”
In October, seasoned singer Ghost posed a similar question to his followers, as he said he wasn’t seeing his social media views mirror his 13,000 following.
