Jahmiel And Vershon Squash Beef, Talk Upcoming Collab
Dancehall artists Jahmiel and Vershon have both turned over a new leaf this year, not only ending their 4-year long beef but they may be releasing a new collab.
The Patriotz boss made the revelation in an interview on BBC Radio1Xtra with host, Seani B yesterday to say the two mended fences just a few days ago. The news evidently took Seani B by surprise, he as well as many Dancehall enthusiasts will know, Jahmiel and Vershon have been feuding since 2017, which included the exchange of diss tracks. Vershon even boldly extended his venom unto Jahmiel’s MVP crewmembers, Mavado and Alkaline.
The 30-year old Inna Real Life singer was the first to have started the war, and now on the flip side, was the first to initiate a truce with his MVP adversary. In 2019 Vershon began the New Year with a heartfelt Instagram post, which directly addressed Jahmiel, Mavado, and Alkaline among others. It read:“HAPPY NEW YEAR TO @mavadogully @thegreatjahmiel @manhimselff @popcaanmusic @aidonia4thgenna @masickamusic @govanagenna and all the others! let’s make this a year of unity success and blessings…”
Now, 2 years later, Jahmiel said “the voice,” told him to complete Vershon’s optimisms. “A drive mi a drive enuh and the voice seh to me say, you and Vershon fi do sump’n.”
The 28-year-old, Strongest Soldier deejay went on to say; when “the voice” talks to him he listens and immediately proceeded to contact Vershon through Instagram. “So mi put mi ego aside and mi just reach out to him and say, Yo! You know seh the voice say me and you fi do som’n though,” … that being their collaboration on a track.
As expected, Vershon met the idea with glee; Jahmiel said he responded, “Yo bro g that would be a good look enuh.” And from there they both vowed to make it happen. “A just positive energy we a deal wid, love we a deal wid,” Jahmiel said.
He continued, “A just God a do him work enuh man … to how da feeling deh just come over mi, me say dat a di right ting fi do bredda. Mi know seh nuttn neva a go wrong.”
Seani B, who admitted he never understood why the two motivational singers had even begun beefing in the first place, expressed his relief for what is now the end of their feud.
Vershon also celebrated the moment by sharing a clip of the interview with the caption: “@thegreatjahmiel delayed but not denied 🙏 Jah angel talk to we that’s why we can sing and uplift the people, mi seh this a year ago but nothn nuh happen before time!!! Big up yu self Jahmiel a nuff youth a wait fi dah track yah maybe a entire album nuff people ago happy/excited mek we lead by example so that some other artist dem can realize seh unity is strength! And if all a we link up and mek music Dancehall/Reggae is unstoppable 💥🔥.”
Seani B responded, “Unity is the way forward bro. Nutten but respect for the both of you for putting the past in the past🔥🔥🔥.”
Jahmiel has been back on a spiritual path of late, which was triggered by what he described as a near-death experience. It made him come to the realization that clashing and throwing hateful lyrics against his fellow Jamaican artistes, was something he longer wants any part of. He also openly regretted his war with Chronic Law, describing it as unnecessary and ‘unhealthy’ in an interview on Entertainment Report last November.
Vershon has also called for peace among other Dancehall rivals. In continuation to his 2019 Instagram post, Vershon told his contemporaries in Dancehall that the veterans like Supacat, Shabba Ranks, Dennis Brown, Garnet Silk, Ninjaman, Beenie Man, and Bounty Killer have all worked too hard to build the genre to where it is today for the younger generation like himself to “mash it up.”
