Popcaan Name Drops Ex-Girlfriend Kavell Keir On New Song ‘Win’
Did Popcaan drop a clue on his relationship status in his new single?
We’ve gotten used to seeing Popcaan in beast mode these last few years, advancing his Unruly empire one boss move and killer collab at a time. Many may have forgotten about his beauty, or to use his word, “boobie”, Trinidadian socialite Kavell Keir, who caused quite a frenzy among his female fans during their relationship.
When the Dancehall superstar announced they were dating back in 2015 with an IG photo captioned, “My boobie where you at? King and queen nah mean❤️”, Unruly fans nearly broke the internet labeling the Fall In Love deejay a ‘sellout’, with some even threatening to unfollow.
The high profile couple unfollowed each other on Instagram in early 2020, leading many to believe the woman Popcaan once called “my BOOBIEKEIRSUTHERLAND,” was no longer in the picture.
On his new song Win, however, Popcaan cleverly adds her name to his upful bars, and fans are wondering whether they’ve rekindled the flame or are close to it. The track and accompanying visuals were released on February 6.
“Politicians seh dem care / Me only know Kavell Keir,” Popcaan raps, snubbing the authorities with slick wordplay that hits close to home. Those who caught the line are speculating as to whether he already has or is trying to ‘win’ her back.
Popcaan sings about getting everything he ever wanted on the song’s Afrobeat tempo. “House pon di hill/ Thirty-four inch rims/, even supporting his mom, Ms. Rhona with millions, and fans feel getting back together with his dream girl might also be high on that list. The 32-year-old referred to them as the “Grammys couple” while they were together, and it was widely rumored the two had also planned to tie the knot.
The two never confirmed or denied their split, and Popcaan was known to be notoriously heated in her defense, blasting a fan who said Keir was “getting lowkey ugly”, with a “her beauty killing you slowly pick a casket zombie” clap back.
They’ve remained amicable since, and now follow each other on ‘Gram again. Kavell sent the 876GUD a birthday shout out in July last year, which he later shared to his stories, while he recently liked one of her snaps on the platform.
Poppy hasn’t been posted up with any other female in recent times, and the reason for Win’s jaded line, “Cyan wait until dis pandemic ting over”, just might be her.
