Eastsyde Records, the label behind Skillibeng’s new drug-running dancehall banger Coke, is ecstatic that the video has racked up over 3 million views since its release over a week ago.

“So far, the views for the Coke song is the most he has ever done in one week, normally it takes him two weeks to get to 2 million but he was at 2.4 million in only a few days, he is blazing right now, 3 million and still counting, no slowing down,” Romaine McFarlane, chief executive officer of Eastsyde Records, told DancehallMag.

The Coke video features Skillibeng’s unmistakable flow and witty lyrics about being a drug-slinger, combined with footage of Skillibeng hanging out in the mysterious plane which recently crashed in Jamaica. The 12-seater plane crash-landed at Rocky Point, off the coast of Clarendon on the night of Saturday, January 23. No passengers or cargo were found. A representative from the police’s Corporate Communications Unit explained that having wrapped up their investigations, the police were no longer interested in the vessel.

Even though he is arguably the hottest dancehall artist in Jamaica at this present moment, Skillibeng is not currently taking any bookings to perform in Jamaica or overseas.

“We’re adhering to the government’s protocols and wishes, we are not taking any local shows because we are respectful of the law and we’re not doing any bookings overseas because we want to protect our families and close associates from the COVID-19 virus. We’re just waiting for the world to get back to a normal place so we don’t endanger those around us,” McFarlane said.

Skillibeng has been on a tear for the past 12 months. In December, he commandeered five tracks on the top 20 songs of the year list on YouTube. Torpedo came in at number 10 garnering 4.48 million views, Mr. Universe (13th) with 4.22 million views, Crocodile Teeth (16th) with 3.57 million views, while Shake Remix with Jada Kingdom and his break-out hit, Brik Pon Brik , came in at 18th and 19th, respectively, with 3.42 million views each.

The 24-year-old claimed the top spot on YouTube’s Music Charts and Insights for Jamaica with a total of 7.26M views in January 2021, surpassing his idols Vybz Kartel and PopcaanThree of the top five most played songs belonged to Mr. Universe as the bangers Hot , Not , and Crocodile Teeth continued the artist’s winning streak into 2021.
