Why Fans Are Calling For A Popcaan And Bobby Shmurda Collab
Fresh off his much-talked-about performance with Reggae legend Beres Hammond, Popcaan fans are now calling for a collab with New York rapper Bobby Shmurda, who was recently released from a federal prison in the US after serving seven years.
Popcaan has become quite an influential Dancehall artist, who many seek out to help bring some fire to their projects. It seems the Unruly Boss is in such high demand that both the older and the younger generation are eager to work with him.
The enthusiastic calls came after Popcaan posted a screenshot on Instagram from a FaceTime call with the head of the G69, Bobby Shmurda.
The Twist & Turn singer posted: “The link stay real!!! Live life to the fullest G, #GS9 #UNRULY @realbobbyshmurdags9 @rowdyrebel touch rd killy.”
One of the first people to comment on the post was the War Lord, Bounty Killer, who said: “Stinky Linky.”
Among the flame emojis and other stirring words of encouragement, fans began to clamor for a new collab between the dancehall deejay and 26-year-old rapper, who has Jamaican heritage of his father’s side.
“We need a collab,” this fan said while this one added, “Nooo sahh trouble ah take ova,” and this one enthusiastically added, “Yesss we ready for em tunnnesss.”
The post which was put up around midnight has already been liked over 100, 000 times.
Popcaan appeared on a Reggae version of Shmurda’s hit song Hot Ngga alongside Mavado, Jah x and Junior Reid. Hot Ngga and the viral Shmoney Dance in 2014 shot Bobby into stardom before his incarceration for criminal possession of a weapon and conspiracy.
Meanwhile, Mavado also had encouraging words for Shmurda upon his release. On an old clip of them in the studio when they were remixing Hot N*gga, he wrote, “Out a road Soldier.”
Other dancehall artists have extended warm greetings to the rapper including Elephant Man, who had recruited Shmurda for his Shmoney Dance video, and Ding Dong.
