Dancehall Starlets Shenseea, Moyann Prove They’ve Got ‘No Limit’ With Slick New Collab
The ShenYeng Boss and Montego Bay starlet Moyann just gifted fans some girl power on their new song, No Limit. Grammy-winning producer DJ Frass reprised production duties for the Car Seat crooner and her Backseat collaborator as they swapped slick bars on women empowerment.
As academics and beatmakers chime in with suggestions for Dancehall’s improvement, Moyann and Shenseea seem to have made one of the genre’s sore points, unity, a priority. They’ve channeled their social media support for one another into a sonic treat, a move many would hope spreads to other circles. Back in November, Shenseea disclosed that she’d been snubbed by other female emcees for features, despite the efforts of her highly connected manager Romeich Major.
The visualizer for the joint track is a playful, live stream-inspired clip showing each songstress living it up while singing the lyrics. “To di way how mi up/ Gyal haffi siddung cyaan stand me/ An mi money nuff/ No borrow goods nuh deh pon mi/ Haters cyaan stop mi, mi have one life fi live an mi nuh have one f— fi give”, they sing on the shared chorus.
Flexing their best angles for the front cameras, they ooze confidence telling it like it is as boss females in the industry. “Everyting nice an yuh know me neva bitter, success ah mi killer mi roll wid it jus like a hitter/ Me ah di winner, mi life ah shine an it ah shimmer/ An blessing jus ah flow like me neva was a sinner,” Moyann sings with attitude, throwing up City Girl’s sassy “Periodt” hand sign.
Shenseea, who’s already copped some land, a new whip, and a couple of endorsement deals this year, spelled out her successes against the animated backdrop. “Mi image lit, we killing s—t, di p—y dem nuh like fi see a young gyal living big/ Dem eye nuff, get two deal dis year, we sign nuff/ Own boss fi mi work nuh need nuh time off/ One life so mi living it, loving it, mi nahve nuh limit,” she raps.
It’s unclear whether the pair has plans to shoot an official video in these socially distant times, but the colorful, emoji-filled reel and powerful message is sure to resonate with their youthful fans for a minute.
It’s a timely show of camaraderie amidst claims that egos are destroying the Dancehall space. Moyann’s presence and list of credentials has been climbing since she emerged on the scene, scoring nods from Spotify and BBC 1Xtra plus collabs with Teejay and Jahvillani in her short career. Shenseea is every bit the successful entrepreneur as she is an entertainer at this point, and both singers are slated to release their debut projects later this year.
Meanwhile, their fans have zero complaints and agree the song was worth the wait. Over ten thousand of them have tuned in so far and it seems “ShenYeng and Moyann with a different hit” is the collab we didn’t know we needed.
One fan commented “Shen neva fail we the two a them voice just perfect together 🔥🔥🔥 love uno bad”, while another said, “2 pretty gyal them ino🍉🌺👭 tune soon let off like gas balloon🎈.” Others praised the slick bars and commended them for the link up — “Unity🔥🔥🔥🔥 sound good ladies. More collab fi 2021.”
