Mavado Thanks Everyone For Support After His Mother’s Death
Dancehall deejay Mavado is sharing his gratitude for the support he and his family has been receiving after the death of his mother last week.
“Much love goes out to everyone who send their love and condolences to me and my family,” he wrote in an Instagram post on Tuesday. “We give thanks for the support in this crazy moment.”
Mavado’s mom, Elizabeth ‘Ms. Pinny’ Gordon died suddenly on March 11.
A source previously told DancehallMag that “she wasn’t sick” and that Cassava Piece community was feeling the loss. “People ah go miss Ms. Pinny, is a woman everybody love,” they added.
On Saturday, the Father God singer, 40, shared a touching tribute to Ms. Pinny in an Instagram post, that recounted her last moments and his cherished memories of the matriarch. Mavado, who is currently in Florida, also lamented that he was now “all alone.”
“Jah know have never felt like this before wow my best friend gone,” he added.
Several thousands of fans and many of his fellow Dancehall entertainers sent Mavado their condolences over the weekend.
Among those were Mavado’s former Alliance leader, Bounty Killer, who up until now shared a frosty relationship with the singer. Killer “sent his deepest sympathy and condolences to Mavado” in an Instagram post on March 13.
He noted that “despite their situation”, he knew of “the void and emptiness caused by the loss of a mom.”
Once fierce rival, Popcaan, also reached out to Mavado via Instagram to extend his condolences on Mavado’s loss. “Keep yo meds firm up same way singer, keep fighting the fight, condolences to you and your family, tough times for everybody, stay up!” Popcaan wrote.
He added, “Unruly wish bad on no one,” as he tagged the Gully Gad.
