Road manager of Reggae artist Nesbeth, known in the industry as Mr. Drummond, was shot by an unknown assailant in Portmore on Tuesday. Drummond’s attackers took away his licensed firearm, and shot him in the face.

Head of the Corporate Communications Unit, senior superintendent Stephanie Lindsay, confirmed that the incident happened but she didn’t disclose the identity of the victim.

“He is alive.  Nesbeth’s manager was shot in the face, the senior superintendent in Portmore told me that his attackers took away his licensed firearm. The incident happened two days ago, and he is still alive,” Lindsay told DancehallMag.

Nesbeth could not be reached for comment. However, he posted a video of himself and his manager at the Norman Manley International Airport, captioned with details of the incident.

“They shot my road manager in his face and took away his license firearm. Please keep him in your prayers🙏🏼,” he said.  “Jamaica is out of control. Be safe everyone.”

The My Dream hitmaker has also lost six family members over the span of about six years, including his wife, grandmother, mother, sister, and aunt.

Ten persons were killed on Tuesday in a bloody wave of violence that has gripped the island, pushing the murder tally to 312, an increase of eight percent in the overall murder rate, when compared with the corresponding period last year.
