Nation Boss Doesn’t Like ‘Humans’ And Everyone Totally Gets It
Dancehall newcomer Nation Boss is making waves and receiving overwhelming support with his highly relatable debut single, Humans .
In an interview with The Fix Podcast, Nation said that the response he has been receiving did not exclude some familiar faces. The singer revealed that he now has unread messages from some of the very same Humans he sang about in the hit song.
The 22-year-old was tight-lipped about their identities but on the inspiration for the track, he said “it was more than one factor, not just friendship not just girlfriend.”
The 3-minute video and track, produced by Trouble Mekka, is connecting with Jamaicans locally and in the diaspora. After only being released on March 16, it has amassed over 600,000 views on YouTube in 7 days and over 4000 comments.
But this does not come as a surprise to many.
A week before the song’s official release the soulful singer shared a teaser on Instagram that received over 100,000 views. The 43-second clip caught the eyes of Popcaan, Lila Iké, and several over dancehall/reggae heavy hitters who left encouraging comments for the rising talent with intriguing vocals.
With stamps of approval from some of the best in the business, the single was sure to find success with the masses. And that it did.
The general consensus was how relatable the song was.
Some of the top comments came from popular Jamaican YouTube personalities. Dj Chigga said “song yah well deep”.
Canadian- Jamaican chef, Morris Time Cooking thought Nation boss reminded him of Garnet Silk, “The man have that Garnett silk vibration to him”.
Some commenters found the hit to be soul-bearing, “Pain..and disappointment, betrayal and the list goes on…smh this song is very deep🙏,” wrote Jodyann Laing.
Anthony Mark said, “I felt every pain he’s feeling in this song👌” REPEAT”
Others thought the collective effort by the singer, producer, and video production team was impeccable. “Song: Excellent! Video concept: Brilliant. Song of the year (so far),” said one user.
“This Was A Hit Before It Was Even Recorded,” added another.
Lila reposted the official video teaser captioned with “Where there is humility growth is a must”. A standout phrase Nation Boss has coined to describe his outlook on life that has already caught on with fans.
Currently, Humans is trending at No. 1 on Apple Music in Jamaica outdoing international acts like Giveon and Justin Bieber.
