Etana Recruits Vybz Kartel For ‘Baby O’ From Her New Album ‘Pamoja’

Grammy-nominated reggae singer Etana is raving about the great online response to her recent collaboration, Baby O, with the Worl’ Boss, Vybz Kartel. The song is the second single from her new album, Pamoja.

“We nah joke, we’re not playing , look inna mi eye, yu think mi a ramp,” an ecstatic Etana told DancehallMag.

Baby O is a melodic masterpiece that’s sure to have you TikToking to the sexy Afro-pop rhythm. The hypnotic, mid-tempo mix unveils Kartel’s innermost thoughts and desires about love with his trademark wit. He deejays:  ‘so royal, you are my queen/nah mek yu leave me, I do the right thing/ ital stew, she no want Turkey/good roots, yu nuh frighten fi Hennessy’.

While Etana croons in her signature crystal clear vocals: ‘if I were your baby, yo Kartel, I would give you so much more, baby, I would give you everything, darling, you would never need nothing…I’d give you all my love’.

“The fans are loving it. I am getting comments like ‘this record is contagious” and they’re saying stuff like ‘this song is going to get Spring Break lit with some real good vibes’. I feel so blessed to have worked with some great people on this project,” she said.

“I’ve always talked about working with Vybz Kartel but I never got a chance to really make it happen due to scheduling and what not, but this  song has been in the making for years, and now was the perfect timing,” she said.

Etana promised a few weeks ago that she is “locked and loaded” and it appears that she was not bluffing. She has focused on her music heavily during the world’s shut down, working towards her new album release, and she thinks this may be her younger fans’ favourite body of work given the great feedback.

Earlier this month, Etana ignited a firestorm of criticism when she released photos that seemed to suggest that she seemingly made a 180, abandoning her Afrocentric image for stylish lace wigs, gorgeous lash extensions and heavy makeup. The August Town native posted a smashing, svelte image of herself which attracted a lot of attention on social media, including speculations of plastic surgery.
