Dancehall Artist Shane O Drops Video For New Introspective Single ‘Good Life’: Watch
Dancehall star Shane O once again demonstrates his uncanny ability to craft a song that resonates with the wider Dancehall audience with his single and video Good Life.
Interest in the song, released on the Gad City Entertainment and S.O.R labels on March 28, was sparked initially over the weekend when a video of a disheveled, barefoot Shane O rummaging through garbage on a deserted khaki sand beach emerged. Cue: fans speculating whether the deejay had descended into the madness of schizophrenia. Cue: bad mind and snide comments.
Then the video dropped, and the fans have responded favorably with fire emojis and compliments about the deejay’s daring creative choices.
He channels the dreams of the poor and disenfranchised with the plaintive line: “RIP to the people who pass and gone and never live a good life/mi tell miself mi haffi travel the world ’cause mi nuh know wah it look like.”
Then Shane O’s shockingly candid chorus chips in: “So bad mind f___ you you you, and you, you, you, gwaan go have a good life (REPEAT) three words for you, F *&^ you, goodbye!”.
Shane O’s voice floats lightly over the riddim as he sings about his future plans to lock stage shows, screaming crowds, buy property, and rocking jewellery and bling before he goes back to the mantra-like chorus that ends: “f…you, goodbye.”
The high point of the song features Shane O imploring the Man Upstairs to keep him strong during the struggle. He croons: “Mi glad the pain over/Keep mi strong, no mek mi fail oh Jah/show me all the fakes before all the fame ova/we zero it and now the game over.”
One user raved about the track: “Bad mind Who Was Laughing On The Internet BecauseThey Thought He was Mad Fr HOW ARE FEELING NOW ? 😂”
Another user, Poetry in motion, praised Shane O emphatically: “People who are hitting the dislike button just confirmed their badmind status. Hold those three words straight. Deal with it my artist.”
Another user was effusive in his praise for the artiste, saying: “Most creative, most talented, most lyricist, most positive, most underrated, and best song writer in the game right now, don’t sell yuh soul yute, gwaan dweet 🤞🏼👽🔥🔥🔥”
