DJ Khaled In Jamaica With Buju Banton Putting Final Touches On ‘Khaled Khaled’ Album
American producer and record executive DJ Khaled is in Jamaica putting the final touches on his upcoming album Khaled Khaled.
The album, which is the We The Best CEO’s 12th studio project, has already attracted assists from H.E.R. and Post Malone, according to HipHopDX, Nas, Roddy Ricch and Migos, according to ABCNewsRadio, Lil Baby, Meek Mill, and Tay Keith, according to HotNewHipHop, and more.
The expectations are high for Khaled Khaled, and we don’t think DJ Khaled is going to miss an opportunity to recruit yet another Grammy Award winner, such as the Dancehall and Reggae legend Buju Banton, for the already packed project.
Buju and Khaled previously collaborated, along with Sizzla, Mavado and 070 Shake, on the Holy Mountain (2019) song and video, which was made a little over a week after the Jamaican star was released from a US prison in December 2018.
In several photos and videos tagged “album mode” and posted to his Instagram yesterday, the music mogul is seen hanging out with Banton at a resort in Ocho Rios.
“Holding a firm meditation wit the my brother @bujubanton JAH LIV,” he captioned one snap.
It appears that Sizzla, Barrington Levy and Capleton might also appear on the album.
In another photo, Khaled seems to be putting the finishing touch on the album, which he said was “97.8%” complete. He wrote in the caption, “Khaled Khaled recording live from Holy Mountain.”
Korean-American film and music video director Joseph Khan also met with Khaled about visuals for a song for the project.
Meanwhile, it wasn’t all work. There was one adorable video of his son, Asahd playing around with the Untold Stories singer. “Hey bwoy, ah my turf yu de pon! Ah my turf, is Rastafari turf, so wah a gwaan?” Banton said as he tickled Asahd, and clowned around.
Khaled also shared an interaction between his fiancee Nicole Tuck, his son Aalam Tuck Khaled and Banton where the Gargamel sang to the toddler: “Aalam is a lamb of God, how are you my son? Welcome to Jamrock, I just ah see yu inna the flesh. May God bless you, may God guide you, may God protect you, may God keep you holy, may your life be prosperous and whatever you do may prosper…you’re a good man.”
Aalam then gave Buju a high five.
DJ Khaled also posted a short clip of a video of the resort’s lush surroundings while the song, Holy Ground featuring Buju Banton, played in the background.
“I’m on the Holy Mountain 🏔 on the holy ground 🤲🏽getting it done! This is where I do my best work 🤲🏽. The Holy mountain is over 100 acres And the album takes 100% to get done! Let’s work! No drone, no camera could capture all its beauty,” he captioned the video.
