Ce’Cile And ZJ Chrome’s ‘Sophisticated’ EP Is Out Now
Dancehall singer Ce’Cile and producer ZJ Chrome have teamed up for an eight-track EP titled ZJ Chrome Presents Ce’Cile: Sophisticated. The project, which bears the ZJ Chrome imprint, was released on April 9.
With a variety of offerings ranging from lovers rock to Dancehall songs, the set brings together the talents of two of reggae and dancehall music’s most ambitious luminaries.
“Working with Ce’Cile can be described in a few words. She is always quick, easy to work with, willing to try new things and gives out quality,” ZJ Chrome shared.
He added, “I normally work with Ce’Cile mainly on reggae tracks, but with this project we went deeper into production changes and breakdowns in the riddims, well written songs with hooks and just more diversity overall.”
ZJ Chrome explained what fans should expect from listening to the project.
“Expect a great listen, melodies, fun, a mix of authentic reggae and dancehall fused with the modern world. And most of all expect feelings – you will probably have emotional reactions when you listen.”
Ce’Cile shared the inspiration behind the project. “Sophisticated the EP (its also the name of one of the singles) came about when Chrome sent me his new riddim. After he sent it, I didn’t get to listen so he called me one day last December and reminded me. So I sat at my table, wrote the song in like 15 minutes, and sent it back to him. He said, “You on a roll man I’m sending you some beats”.
“I had written like eight songs that day. I wrote this EP in 2 days and recorded in 3 days. It was just easy. There are times when I want to say stuff and one song doesn’t work,” said Ce’Cile.
Ce’Cile and ZJ Chrome had previously worked on the songs When You’re Gone (Cardiac Bass riddim), Cheaters’ Revenge (Cardiac Strings riddim) and Break Up (featured on the Behind the Lines project).
Said Ce’Cile, “Chrome is very musical and I like trying and saying new things and he gets that. My topics are usually not just another love song but more about real relationship issues and he always encourages me even if its not the mainstream thing to do. He’s also very quick production wise. He’s right there with you.”
Ce’Cile last full-length project was 2019’s Music + Magic.
