Queen of Dancehall and Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta (LHHATL) star Spice released her new single Money Walk last week which featured her show-stopping money dress, covered in US$20 bills bearing the face of abolitionist and political activist Harriet Tubman and not former US president Andrew Jackson.

Spice may not have highlighted the piece in the video clearly for her audiences to notice in the Demarco-directed visuals, but took the opportunity to do so on Twitter.

The Dumpling singer shared a mini clip, pre-shoot while she was behind the scenes fitting the money dress.

“Lets be clear get the details, this ain’t no normal print dress. Big up bloodclaat Harriet Tubman. It’s the details for me baby,” she wrote on the tweet as she asked the person filming to “zoom in pan da dress yah” so everyone could catch the print.

It was then you could see that Tubman’s image, holding a vintage firearm, was displayed on an endless collage of $20 dollar bills.

Spice thanked Atlanta designer Carlos Wayne and wardrobe stylist D. Rushing for the incredible ensemble but ultimately it was an opportunity that allowed Spice to show support for the efforts made by the Obama-era US Government to discontinue the circulation of the existing $20 bill that currently portrays Andrew Jackson and replace it with Harriet Tubman’s image.

In 2016, the Obama administration had set out to redesign the $20 bill under the premise that Tubman was a better suitor to reflect the history and diversity of the country as opposed to Jackson, who owned slaves and also fought Native Americans, forcing them off their land.

Harriet, born into slavery, was a 19th-century abolitionist and “conductor” of the Underground Railroad. She risked her life to rescue dozens of enslaved people and bring them to freedom after she escaped herself. She was also instrumental to the Union military during the Civil War and even joined the fight for women’s suffrage after the Civil War ended.

According to CNBC, President Joe Biden has resumed the initiative after it was shelved by Donald Trump. “We’re exploring ways to speed up that effort,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters in January.

Spice is evidently in support of the change; after all, she’s all things money and the making of it. Her single Money Walk can attest to that, the Dancehall star says she’s the least bit concerned with her haters and badmind people but is rather more focused on her cash. “While dem a pree my case, Mi ah pree dead president face. Me nuh have time fi waste and mi nuh wah see dem inna my space,” she dishes in the single.
