Vybz Kartel Flexes With Five Songs On New Music Friday
Dancehall artist Vybz Kartel raised the bar on his own unstoppable work ethic, dropping not one, but five new tracks on Friday, April 16. Proving he can easily outdo 2020’s feat of two albums in a year, the Dancehall don premiered a host of new music on what he dubbed “Gaza day.”
“Vybz Kartel – Every Hustler. Vybz Kartel & Tommy Lee Sparta – Dark Ages. Vybz Kartel & Lisa Hyper = Irreplaceable. All released in a few hours #April 16. How’s that for work rate? #GazaDay”, the Worl’ Boss wrote on Thursday night, setting the pace for his slew of releases which also includes Rich Forever with Jesse Royal, and NO CAP with sons Likkle Vybz and Likkle Addi.
The Teacha never fails to ensure a festive New Music Friday. Last week, he hopped on Usain Bolt’s Clockwork Riddim with the bouncy ladies anthem, Beautiful Human and true to form, the ‘Dancehall Hero’ had plenty more in store. Five new singles and a new music video hardly seems daunting to the man who earned RIAA Gold from behind bars. Ranging from grimy gunplay tracks to go-getter anthems, the Gaza Boss gave his entire fanbase something to vibe to foe the weekend,
“Gun Tune”: Dark Ages With Tommy Lee Sparta
Both incarcerated deejays swear vengeance on pagans and pretenders in the form of a prayer. “Answer my prayer oh Lord, gimme di strength fi slew some bwoy/ Dem ah Judas, dem nuh fi live/ Shot blow dem away like shaft in di wind” Kartel sings before Sparta chimes in with the grimy methods. The track is currently climbing Youtube trending and is produced by Naviigator Music.
“Gyal Tunes”: Irreplaceable and NO CAP
Never one to leave out his female fans, Kartel comes through with some groovy options for their pre-summer playlists. “You wanna play? Bubble up your waist..” Addi commands on the NO CAP into, before Likkle Vybz flaunts his fancy bars, “She for the streets like a dozen of posters, You for the league with Picassos and Mona.” “Issa summer take over” Likkle Addi said of the track on his IG account and with his hitmaking dad on the catchy hook, the youngster is likely 100% correct.
COVID-19 may have the world on lockdown, but Addi and Lisa Hyper are taking fans to the ‘dancehall zone’. TJ Record’s (Under Water – Vybz Kartel/ Mamakita – Popcaan) brand new riddim Dancehall Zone is a spunky beat that’s the perfect fit for the provocative bars on Irreplaceable. “Gyal yuh ah di bestest dem ah runner up/ An di h—e weh yuh have dat eva full ah luck,” he spits on the track.
“Go-Getter Anthems”: Rich Forever and Every Hustler
Kartel teams up with Modern Day Judas crooner Jesse Royal for a verbal affirmation on perseverance and preparation. Press play for his spitfire flow on the upful track: “In a system that breeds depression, who will ease the tension?/ Matter how me teach dem need detention”
Kartel addresses the price of success and the levels some will stoop to to “be a millionaire” or “wul a G” on Every Hustler. It’s no secret that success acquired by shady means is fleeting, and the Worl Boss confidently asserts “from a nuh prison you ah pree ah di key.”
