It turns out that they are, and they even have their own homegrown Reggae group called Reggae Rajahs.

And now the country is beginning to embrace Dancehall, as Chris Gayle’s recently released single Jamaica To India began blazing in the top spot on the charts in the South Asian country.

Jamaica To India which is a collaboration featuring Indian pap artiste Emiway Bantai has been at the top of the charts in India since its release and has already amassed 16 Million views on YouTube, an accomplishment the renowned batsman turned artiste said he is super pleased with.

According to Gayle, he was very pleased with how seamless the collaboration happened and the success of the track.

“The collaboration with Emiway came about by me just messaging him and suggesting that we do a track together and straight away he said let’s do it! We recorded our parts separately and met up in Dubai to shoot the video and the synergy was awesome,” Gayle explained

“When Dancehall is getting a raw deal worldwide here I am hitting multiple charts in India with one of the most popular Indian artistes, it’s a good look for Jamaican music and I’m glad to be able to be a part of that,” Gayle added.

Gayle further said that because of the Jamaica To India single, he anticipates that there will be more acceptance and demand for Jamaican music in South Asia.

The Universe Boss said that his hit in India has been fueling his momentum noting that his pushing forward even more aggressively with his music career citing the release of  the remix to Choco Loco with Triple Century Records team member Camar Flava.

Choco Loco, was originally released by Flava late last year, and was  specifically voiced for the ladies,  however Gayle fell in love with the track and insisted that a remix be made coupled with a video as well.

The cricket superstar announced in 2020 that he would be launching his music career, at the time, Gayle told local press that music came natural to him .
