Mavado Shows Off His Int’l Connects With Rap Legends Jay-Z, Busta Rhymes, Swizz Beatz, T.I., Rick Ross & More

Dancehall column Mavado showed off his star-studded international connections in an Instagram share over the weekend.

In the Instagram post shared yesterday, the So Special Jamaican deejay is pictured with Hip Hop heavyweights Jay Z, Busta Rhymes, Swizz Beatz, T.I., Rick Ross, and Fabolous among others, which Mavado captioned a “Legendary pic.👁🔑.”

The photo, which sees all the guys decked in black suits and tuxedos was taken off the set of the video shoot of DJ Khaled’s single I Got the Keys featuring Jay-Z and Future in 2016. Mavado had a cameo in the music video with other rap stars including 2 Chainz, Pusha T, A$AP Ferg, Bryson Tiller and Yo Gotti.

DJ Khaled, probably the only person alive capable of bringing together such an epic squad of big shots for one video, certainly got some buzz in the media back then.

The music video, which was directed by Daniel Kaufman, captures several scenes at a prison facility with the rappers facing off with a group of police. It has since racked up over 109 million views on YouTube.

Mavado, whose real name is David Brooks, signed with Khaled’s We the Best Music Group record label back in 2011. The two have been known to link up on quite a few music ventures. Apart from releasing tracks like Tie Yuh (Persian Mat), Emergency featuring Ace Hood and Soulja girl and Survivor featuring Akon under the label, Mavado has collaborated with Khaled on the singles Suicidal Thoughts and Holy Mountain in 2019, which also features Reggae acts Buju Banton and Sizzla.

In 2016, Mavado’s song Progress on the Money Boss Riddim produced by Mineral Boss Records was featured in DJ Khaled’s Major Key album along with the single I Got The Keys with Jay Z and Future.

The album copped a nomination for the 2017 Grammy Awards in the Best Rap album category.
