Canadian rapper/singer Tory Lanez is showing off his Dancehall chops and teasing the release of a new track he recorded on the riddim of Skillibeng’s infamous Crocodile Teeth .

Lanez shared a clip of his unreleased Dancehall scorcher via Instagram on Friday, which saw him firing up the beat and spitting his fierce Dancehall bars to warn his ‘badmind’ rivals to stand down. The Say It singer, who seemed pretty psyched about the new recording, turned to his 10.3 million IG followers to ask them if he should drop the track.  He tagged Skillibeng in the caption of the post saying, “🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲 @skillibeng #CrocodileTeeth …… should I drop this or leave this in the stash ???? … I think it’s fire tho … word to @ovoroxx cornrows.”

The feedback from his fans has been nothing but positive. “Ting 🆙 🔥🔥” said American/Jamaican singer Sean Kingston joining the more than 11K other raving comments and 1.15 million views. Lanez even got huge endorsements from some Dancehall giants Sean Paul and Beenie Man, who liked and lit fire emojis on the post.

Tory Lanez, 28, who is of Caribbean roots, has been pretty outspoken about the influence Reggae and Dancehall music has had on his craft. Not only is his recent sampling nailing some slick deejay-style flows but the singer also delved straight into hardcore territories.

Several of his previously released singles such as Bodmon Song and Luv (which samples Everyone Falls in Love by Tanto Metro and Devonte) have reflected his flare for the Jamaican sound, both issuing heavy Dancehall impressions on the baseline.

He has also had countless collaborations with big Dancehall acts, lending vocals on Buju Banton’s Trust (Remix), Busta Rhymes’ Girlfriend with Vybz Kartel, remixing Koffee’s Toast and recently hitting it out the park on Dexta Daps’ Call Me If remix with Louie Culture.

Keznamdi recently recruited him and Vybz Kartel for a remix of City Lock.

He has even swerved into more Afrobeat style recordings too, appearing on Nigerian singer, Willie X.O.’s Comfort You with Popcaan and another single, 2 AM with rapper Casanova and Nigerian star, Davido.

Tory’s new Dancehall teaser is awaiting the biggest endorsement of them all, Skillibeng! The Dancehall star boy hasn’t publicly responded but many are speculating that Lanez may have just been the sought act to remix the Eastsyde Records artiste’s hit track.

Crocodile Teeth, released in September 2020, has been a monster hit for the St Thomas native with over 18 million views on YouTube.  The song has resonated with Dancehall fans and international stars and celebrities alike, including Drake, Rich The Kid, Burna Boy, Young M.A and more.
