Bounty Killer Sends Subtle Diss To Mr. Lexx After DJ Khaled Collab: “Who Did Say It Wasn’t Gonna Hit?”
Numbers don’t lie and that’s something Dancehall artist Bounty Killer understands and appreciates, as he showed off the impressive YouTube views his Where You Come From collab raked-in, in the space of just two days. The song, with Buju Banton, Capleton, and Barrington Levy, was released last week on DJ Khaled’s album Khaled Khaled .
“Who did say it wasn’t gonna hit rassclaath ya now 1.4m in barely two days and #2 trending,” said Bounty Killer, as he took to Instagram on Sunday, May 2, to broadcast the numbers garnered by the newly released music video that was shot in Jamaica.
The video, directed by Ivan Berrios, showcases Khaled’s love affair with Jamaica and is currently trending No. 2 among YouTube viewers from the island, with more than 2.6 million views since its release on Saturday, May 1. The song has also racked up over 800,000 plays on Spotify.
In his Instagram post, Bounty Killer continued “Some little men going to have serious menstrual pain all over again,” seemingly taking a jab at fellow artist Mr. Lexx, who had criticized DJ Khaled and the collaboration.
The numbers provided by Killer seem to address Mr. Lexx’s comments which slammed DJ Khaled for collaborating with the same Jamaican artists over and over again. “Dear DJ Khalid, Just letting you know they’re a lot more artists in Jamaica #Respectfully,” Mr. Lexx said, in a tweet when news broke that Khaled was on the island working on a new project three weeks ago.
Mr. Lexx added that not only were the same group of artists selected to work on Khaled’s projects but that they had failed to produce hits. “Every time Kahlid come yah a di same artist dem him use and di song dem nah hit. Kmt yea I said it,” he said.

Bounty Killer wasn’t the only one who subtly rebuffed Mr. Lexx’s criticisms. Hip-Hop mogul DJ Khaled seemingly also took a subtle swipe at the dancehall artist.
In releasing the video for the collab, which he described as “historic,” Khaled said, “Let’s be clear! All these artists have never collaborated on one record before.”
“This is history. JAMAICA I LOVE YOU! the song is called WHERE YOU COME FROM but I also never forget WHERE I COME from,” added Khaled in the caption for the video on Instagram.
While Mr. Lexx’s comments were largely dismissed by Jamaicans, with many failing to take him seriously after he misspelled Khaled’s name, it appears Killer along with Khaled took note of the online comments and waited for the perfect opportunity to subtly strike back.
