JPSCo, is one of the entities that deals with matters surrounding such fixtures, however the company has in recent times reported that they’ve been battling an increase in criminality as it relates to light posts.

Media and Public Relations Manager at the JPS Audrey Williams has revealed that since the start of the year, 525 streetlights have been stolen across the island, according to the Gleaner.

Williams noted that most of the incidents of theft were reported in the parish of  St. Catherine and has had a knock on effects on the company’s rollout of  the LED streetlight programme.

In addition, Williams also used the occasion to alert the public to a streetlight repair scam.

The scam has been detected in several communities with Williams, highlighting the  Plantation Village community in St Ann, saying no money should be given to persons who promise to repair defective streetlights.
