Earlier this month, amid concerns that Jamaica’s entertainment industry would not bounce back until next year due to COVID-19, Boom Boom had said, during an interview on Television Jamaica’s The Entertainment Report with Anthony Miller, that he would be flying to the UK as soon as its borders are fully reopened and would not return to his home country anytime soon.
“Yuh know seh England a open di 21st a June though, yu seet? And mi have roun 16 show a England right now enuh. “Sixteen show. An if Jamaica nuh open back fi di summa, mi naw come back. Mi a tell yuh right now Missa Milla. Mi not coming back till Jamaica open up,” he had declared.
Boom Boom had also said that he lost a lot of money, as he had to refund promoters who had booked him for overseas shows. He also said that pprior to COVID-19, he would fly out of the island religiously every weekend, to select at overseas parties.
“To tell yuh di truth Missa Milla, mi a look pon next year dem time yah. It rough. Nuff a wi nave no income, while nuff a wi still have a income… Mi siddung yah suh right now, you wouda neva like know weh mi guh through enuh,” he said.

The Grants Pen native had also told Miller that while he was under pressure financially due to the lockdown, he and other selectors have resorted to using the internet to keep virtual parties.
However, he had said that despite his own money woes, donations made from his virtual shows – Boom Sundays, Uptown Mondays and Boasty Tuesdays are used to buy food to provide care packages for persons who were worse off than himself.
Known for his high energy performances and hard-hitting dubplates, Boom Boom is not only one of Jamaica’s most sought after selectors, but is one of the most booked selectors both nationally and internationally.
The 36 year old has also toured much of Europe and along with Boom Sundays, Uptown Mondays and Boasy Tuesdays, has been a mainstay at other celebrated street dances in Kingston such as Bembe Thursdays and Bounty Sundays.
Officially sponsored by Boom Energy Drink, the selector is one of the company’s leading brand ambassadors. He began his career on the Invaders sound system in Grants Pen, and had major support from artistes including Bounty Killer and Mavado and his skills honed by Bass Odyssey, Stone Love and Travellers sound systems.
