Jah Cure Showers His Mother With Love On Her Birthday
Telephone Love singer Jah Cure, serenaded and gushed over his mother Panseta Campbell, as she celebrated her ‘60-something’ birthday while on the sparkling white sands of the Negril Beach on Thursday night.
The 2016 Grammy nominee showed off a series of videos of himself and his mother on Instagram, in which he showered her with hugs and kisses, cut her birthday cake and even paused to share a ganja spliff with her.
“To all the mothers of the world, you deserve a pot of gold. I love you mama ❤️ love to all mothers across the globe 🌎 ❤️ #happybirthdaymamacure #panseta #mamacure,” the Hanover native captioned the post.
“Without her I couldn’t be the star I am today, so if you love me you gonna have to love her first. This is my mother and I is my birthday,” he said before popping a kiss on her cheek. Most precious person to me in the word… and my daughter. God bless you Mommy,” he said in the first video clip.
The This is One for you Mama singer, who was in a very mellow mood, also took time to explain that some of his biological and personality traits came from his mother.
First, he created excitement over how young his mother looked, and said that he had got his youthful genes from her.
“Look pon mi mummy how shi fresh. Mommy yuh a how much now? Eeh?” he asked.
When she whispered her response in his ear Jah Cure said: “Mi naw tell dem. Yuh a 60 likkle bit. Look pon mi madda; look pon mi dada. Fresh and fit. Das why mi naw grow old caw guess what, it inna di blood. Yeh mi nuh grow old suh easy,” he explained.
The Hanover native also explained his own tendency to get into fits of rage when feeling aggrieved, a vice that has caused him to have been embroiled in stand-offs with some of his Reggae/dancehall compatriots including Fantan Mojah and more recently Popcaan, was something he acquired from his mother.
“Mi stepmadda tell mi seh mi madda an mi faada shouldn’t live togedda because mi mother have a high temper and suh mi faada. Suh now I realize weh mi get dah high temper from. Suh nuh badda feel like seh mi madda is a – shi nice, but don’t play wid har. When yuh get har roaring, shi is a roaring lioness. A she mi get dat from,” he said.
“Mi si my madda struggle wid di whola wi. Every madda deserve a pot a gold, every madda in the world, including my madda. Mi watch mi madda run from police, jus fi juggle nd feed wi and sen wi school. Happy birthday Mommy,” he added.
The 42 year old, whose given name is Siccature Alcock, also boasted about the fact that he was able to smoke weed with his mother.
“No love like momma love…Happy birthday to my mother. We are all here celebrating her special day,” he said in another clip, as he handed her the spliff he was smoking.
“It is a blessing when you an yuh modda can smoke togedda and reason. Nuff a oonu nuh have dah priviledge deh. Love mi madda,” he said.
Sizzla’s Thank you Momma was among the songs which wafted out in the night air, as Jah Cure and his mother relaxed on Negril’s Seven Mile Beach. Some tourists who walked by also greeted the Unconditional Love artist who he told them he was celebrating his mother’s birthday, as they exchanged pleasantries.
The resort town of Negril is a favourite playground for Jah Cure. The Billboard-charting artiste has done many performances there over the years, and spends much of his free time cruising and frolicking in the waters there. Last October he staged his birthday celebrations on a catamaran boat there and invited all his fans who rule under the sign of Virgo to join him.
