Fresh from ‘Yeng Day’ festivities with her loyal fans, Jamaican Dancehall star Shenseea got back to work making B.I.G moves with yet another lit freestyle.

Her last two efforts, Don’t Rush and Snitch , went viral earlier in 2021, even earning her a nod from female rap legend Missy Elliot. On Saturday, the Trending Gyal was seen in the studio with US rapper MoneyBagg Yo celebrating his latest album, A Gangster’s Pain, returning to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 Albums chart.

They both served swag on B.I.G’s menacing instrumental, but the ShenYeng Queen’s slick summary of her musical success easily stole the spotlight. Within hours, the likes of Rvssian, Dancehall singjay Ce’cile, The Shade Room, and many others praised Shenseea’s increasingly impressive rap skills.

The starlet who’s notched quite a few hip hop collabs so far unleashed her latest bars on what would have been Biggie’s 49th birthday.

“Had to do something on Biggie’s Birthday yesterday  @moneybaggyo stepped in 😂😂 yoo y’all think we should collab fr? Congrats on ya #1 Album Baggg, you REAL! 🔥🔥🔥 #studio #vybz” she wrote on Instagram.

Now in album mode, it seems the Blessed singer promptly hit the studio in LA after a lavish dinner with 5 lucky ShenYengs just hours before. Based on snaps in her IG Stories, Shenseea was also in the booth recording, but it’s unclear whether she was working on this buzzing new freestyle or a track from her upcoming debut project.

Ironically, the Notorious B.I.G was in the same US city shooting the video for Hypnotize when he lost his life 24 years ago. The song became a posthumous Billboard No. 1, and an everlasting part of his legacy: vivacious rhymes and wordplay matched with gripping storytelling. Like the Brooklyn giant did in many of his songs, Shenseea flipped her rags-to-riches story into lyrical magic.

“It’s a blessing to be what I always wanted to be/ Now look, people hating cause I’m who they’re trying to be/ Growing up, I wish I had a home that was just for me/ Now I own properties like I took over monopoly/ So much ice I’m shaking, seizure!/ Getting green like my name’s caesar/ Dead faces on my paper like I’m a f—g Grim Reaper!” she rhymes over the Hypnotize beat.

Back in February, the Lighter crooner talked her limitless mindset and the strides she’d made experimenting with sounds in an E! News interview. “I’m doing soca, rap, reggae, dancehall. That’s what I want my legacy to be, versatility. And that’s why I try to write the music that says ‘Hey, be this, be that, work for this, be the boss,” Shenseea said.

On that note, the comments below her freestyle are flooded with proof that she’s getting there. Shen’s manager Romeich Major, rapper Yo Gotti and Busta Rhymes, who’s worked with B.I.G in the past on Craig Mac’s star-studded Flava In Your Ear Remix, all sent rows of fire emojis for her flawless delivery.

The ShenYengs didn’t miss the chance to sound off either, leaving comments such as “Damn this gyal ah real problem” and “We Need That Collab!”.

Although she raps on the freestyle “to my fans, I can’t do no wrong like Jesus in Heaven”, many were concerned that their fave is slowly ditching her authenticity.

“Give it to me in patwa” read one popular comment, while a distraught male fan argued, “Lol nah shensea keep yuh Jamaican flavor that’s why we love yuh, no need to convert for the Yankee masses.”

The ShenYeng Boss stepped in to put their fears to rest, and responded to him saying “haha don’t worry baby i aint switching, this one is just a vybe ❤️”.

Meanwhile, fans are speculating Moneybagg is looking to sign Shenseea to his Bread Gang roster. “Tag 2 New Artists U Think I Should Sign GO!! #BreadGang”, he posted on IG just days ago, showing off new Bread Gang bling for the potential talents. With a Billboard #1 album to his credit, and boasting features with the likes of Pharell and Future, Yo now has the stats and street cred necessary to expand his already noisy empire.

Only time will tell, however, Shenseea has spent the last few years proving she’s the whole package and deserving of a shot at the big leagues. “I’m a BOSS! And you b—s aint on my level/ You on that 9-5 but I’ve been working 24/7!!!” are among her best bars in the 30 second snippet. It remains to be seen if her work ethic and wow factor will soon grant her a spot in the world of hip hop.
