Dre Skull Links Mr Eazi And Popcaan For New Summer Banger ‘Sekkle & Bop’: Listen
Mixpak record label CEO Dre Skull has tapped Nigerian singer Mr. Eazi and Popcaan for a pumping Afro-dancehall addition to summer playlists.
At just under three minutes, the versatile trio wastes no time whipping the ladies into a wining frenzy. “Show me yuh bad mek me see wah yuh wukkin wid, now sekkle and bop,” they command on the soundsystem ready beat that’s sure to leave listeners longing for a dance floor.
From the ear candy flute intro, it’s clear that the team hasn’t lost the infectious spark since their last collab, 2018’s Body So Good (Remix) on Popcaan‘s Forever album. The Dre Skull produced first single from the suite gets a glimmering update as both trade their signature flows with ease and charisma. “I be angel, me I no be Lucifer” Mr Eazi assures both “Jessica and Monica”, before Popcaan launches into instructions and some slick lines.
“Jiggle up yuh body mek mi ring off yuh line/ Man ah rush yuh body tell dem fi join di line/ Gyal deh ah wine like she doh have nuh spine/ African gyal ah buss ah designer wine”, he spits on the track.
Known for his production work with Vybz Kartel, Snoop Dogg, and more, Dre Skull delivers a sparse, lit backdrop matching Mr. Eazi’s unique tone as well as Popcaan’s playful cadence which the Risky deejay has no issue flaunting.
“Girl mi circle yuh yaad bout hundred time/ Whole day yuh ah run pon mi mind/ All inna mi sleep gyal mi waan see you wine/ Yuh roun like a ten dolla coin, Popcaan continues, with as much as zeal his West African collaborator.
Mr. Eazi is one of Afrobeat’s heavyweights while Jamaican hitmaker Popcaan is steadily advancing his global reach on Drake’s OVO Sound record label. Their link up is only the latest in a slew of collabs including Etans’s Proppa feat. Ghanaian deejay Stonebwoy that impressively extends the afro-pop/ dancehall narrative:
