Dancehall Producer Jahvy Ambassador Talks Alkaline’s ‘Hostage’
Hit Dancehall producer Jahvy Ambassador is now well-known for his buzzworthy production work on Alkaline’s Top Prize album and the earlier hit song Ocean Wave . To this day, he remains one of the top producers working with Alkaline after many have faded over the years. The two have a symmetry that spans years of camaraderie and mixing up masterpieces in the studio.
It’s no surprise the chemistry remains strong on Hostage, a sensual, direct hit with the smooth yet crisp trademark delivery that has solidified Alkaline amongst the Dancehall greats.
“It’s always a great vibe working with Alkaline,” Jahvy shared with DancehallMag via email. “He’s a very creative artiste and emphasizes hugely on details and perfection so it’s always good working with him.” With a cool enthusiasm, he adds: “Look out for more music, and music videos, collaborative projects, merch, new website, more Alkaline features and many other artistes.”
We briefly spoke with the Tru Ambassador Ent producer about his sound and inspirations and dream collab (guess!)
What distinguishes your sound from other producers in Dancehall?
I just think I have a unique tone with how I play my phrases and the chord progressions I use. All in all being a musician (piano player) just gives me an edge in regards to variety and options with sound selections.
Which artist would you love to collab with?
Rihanna.
What is the inspiration behind the Hostage riddim?
Hostage Riddim was just a usual day in the studio for me to do my job as a music producer and make beats for artiste. I had just finished rebuilding my studio at the time and thought I’d sit in and make something classic to release this year.
Hostage is available on all digital platforms. Pull it up here and watch the audio video above.
