Skillibeng Fans Upset After Honey Milan Says ‘Chappa Gyal’ Would Have Succeeded Without Him

Some of Skillibeng’s fans are up in arms after Honey Milan, the US-based artiste with whom he collaborated to voice the controversial song Chappa Gyal, said in an interview on Onstage, that the song would have done well without the Crocodile Teeth artiste’s vocals.

Rebuke, castigation and accusations of being ungrateful, were hurled at Milan after she said at the beginning of the interview that the song was hers and the E-Syde artist was a “feature”.

“Mi really feel like it would have been good widout him too. Yeh,” Milan told host Winford Williams in the interview which was premiered on YouTube on Saturday night.

“It’s my song and he’s the feature.  I actually sent him a couple songs and he said he would get on them and then it so happened that I came up with Chappa Gyal.  I was just like, ‘you know, you should just get on that’”, she said of the track whose lyrics are centered on a discussion about a scamming operation.

“And you think it would have done well without him?” Williams asked.

“Yeh, maybe it woulda took a little bit more time, but I still think it would have…,” the artist, whose given name is Tina Lynch said.

“So his brand has brought the attention?” Williams asked, to which Milan replied: “Yes”.

“Cause he’s got very big following?” he added.

“Yes,” was her reply.

“But you are confident you would have made it on its own without him?” Williams repeated, to which she again responded: “Yeah”.

While some of Milan’s fans praised her and said she was going to be the next big star, most E-Syde fans took umbrage at her remarks, stating that she did not give Skilli the credit he deserved, that he should part company with her and that she should practice humility.

“Honey you are going to change that attitude and please, on your journey, respect who help you. Without the strength of East Side and the DJ you would never get that recognition you got in the time frame. I truly think what you said in the first few minutes of your interview was very disrespectful to Skilly,” East Vibration Records rebuked.

“We know skilli beng we don’t know you.  Me genna should not do any more song with her.  Her attitude 0 and ungrateful,” KrazyTail Production added in voicing his disgruntlement.

Others claimed that unlike her statements, if it were not for Skilli, they would not have listened to the Chappa Gyal in the first place.

“Is the choppa gal having an attitude? Hmmm 🤔. Anyway.. who is she?? Big up Skilli beng if they didn’t call ur name i would av fast forward past that part… Girl confidence is a good thing but overconfidence is another thing. Wishing u well though,” Shian Shiraz said.

“That honey Milan person with her forced American accent, her body language was so rude and she has a nasty attitude talking about her song could do well without skillibeng so y did you put him in there,” Kadeen Hayles said, while dacia campbell added:  “She a do music b4 him n nobody never know har. And y her songs that are without him naah do this good? Nuh wan sound harsh stillz but shi fi just calm n guh tru.”.

However, there were a few who thought that Milan was just being confident in herself and her talents.

“Nah bro the tittle mek it look a way but atleast she believe seh it woulda do good without him dat nuh mean she a try diss him Jah jah Nuh think she a try do dat to be honest,” Maro Don said.

“She delivered her part of the song well. It would have been good if it was her alone. But skilli add a whole lot to it, making it better. Making it an instant hit…. if it wasn’t skilli, she wouldn’t be doing an onstage interview,” Rodney Sinclair added.

Chappa Gyal has been shrouded in controversy since it was released weeks ago. Skillibeng and Milan were forced to pull the music video for the track, after its directors were slapped with an order to edit out a building of the H&L Rapid True Value company, a subsidiary of Grace, from the production.

Attorneys from the law firm Levy and Cheeks which represented H&L, had handed Skilli’s producers a cease and desist letter, taking issue with how the establishment was misappropriated.

The building, which was featured at the beginning of the music video, was renamed Skillimoney Headquarters and was portrayed as a fictional ‘scamming base’.

But according to the attorneys, Skilli’s video not only infringed on trademark and copyright, but was also a “deliberate attempt to take advantage of the reputation and goodwill which has developed and presently exists in the ‘H&L’ and ‘Rapid True Value’ trademark, trade dress and get-up”.

The letter also outlined that H&L does not endorse scamming and did not grant anyone affiliated with Skillibeng’s video permission to use its trademark.
