Dancehall Artist Demarco Drops First Single ‘Mover’ With Konshens From Debut Album, ‘Melody’
Demarco just debuted his new track Mover, the ladies-anthem and lead single from his upcoming debut album. The Konshens collab is a Dancehall/Reggaeton hybrid and a scorching summer anthem with matching visuals.
The Lazy Body artist, producer, and writer assumes director duty, expertly showcasing the cut’s crossover appeal and spicy dancefloor vibes. Both deejays star as women’s football coaches, but if the antics seem more sensual than sporty, blame it on the booming flute-driven fusion.
Demarco has such a keen ear for savage rhythms and a solid track record. It’s hard to believe that he’s never issued an album. After 15 years of partystarters such as Puppy Tail and She Can’t Wait, fans can expect an exciting body of work that his new label, Ineffable Records (whose roster boasts Collie Budz and Konshens) has thrown its full weight behind.
“He is responsible for helping create some of the biggest dancehall records of all time for others, and we feel like it’s time to spotlight his music on an album,” said Ineffable Music Group co-founder Igor Katz.
In the meantime, Demarco’s new track is the perfect distraction for the months-long countdown before the suite’s (named Melody after his 9-month-old daughter) October 22 release.
The man who’s produced some of modern Dancehall’s most definitive riddims (Stress Free Riddim), and who helped make Charly Black’s Party Animal a roaring success clearly saved a dose of magic for his own radiant summer soundtrack.
In just under three minutes, the duo swaps teasing bars while their teammates work up a storm on and off the field. The scantily clad bunch seems eager to score, and they’re keen on the coaches’ Spanish lingo (Dale!/ Mueve tu bam bam) and sporty callouts.
“Love how yuh tek care ah yuhself senorita/ Hourglass shape an mi love off yuh feature/ Gyal yuh full ah class, mi substitute teacher/ Yuh body tun up louder dan speaker/ You ah nuh no goalie but you ah fi mi keeper/ Gyal draw di chair an siddung pon dah seat yah,” Demarco sings on the track.
Konshens comes through next with his sultry commands — “Mami wine and jiggle it, brace it bubble/ When yuh touch di dance floor gyal ah instant trouble/ In it to win it, baby all or nothin’/ Yuh drive me crazy like a car start button,” he spits on the track.
Fans have reacted positively to the collab, especially since it seems to mark the end of a longstanding beef between the two dating back to 2014. “Big man move. More success to the I them equally. INITY BUILDS STRENGHT,” one fan wrote while others quipped ““Now this is a video,” as well as “Guys somebody call Firefighter, International Vibes.”
