Dancehall Star Popcaan Makes Cameo Appearance In Migos’ New Video ‘Why Not’
The Unruly Boss Popcaan is still popping up in video clips despite his current Instagram hiatus. Last month, the Dancehall star was seen stunting with rootsman Jesse Royal in the Rich Forever visuals, and just yesterday, fans glimpsed the 876 GUD in rap trio Migos’ new video for Why Not.
The Atlanta-based group was in Jamaica months ago shooting scenes for their collab with DJ Khaled and H.E.R, called GOING CRAZY . Back in April, the Risky deejay posted his nighttime link up with the Narcos rappers on his IG Stories, most of which was captured in the new Wyatt Winfrey directed clip.
Just shy of four minutes, the vacay-themed video clip shows the hip hop band with stacks, plenty to smoke, and lavish assets. Popcaan is hard to miss hanging out with his best friend — weed — and the Migos entourage in an outdoor performance clip. The deejay, who’s signed to OVO Sound, is gaining increasing levels of international clout, especially with his credentials among hip hop’s most prolific.
Though he doesn’t appear on DJ Khaled’s heavily assisted Khaled Khaled suite, he was invited to come through for the Migos cameo regardless, no doubt bolstered by his 2020 collabs with Drake, PartyNextDoor and Megan Thee Stallion.
Last year also saw the deejay linking up with LA rapper Dave East for similar vibes on his Unruly video shoot. The two touched down in Tivoli Gardens and at many of Poppy’s Kingston rendezvous before zipping to the North Coast for some resort antics. East’s video has since racked up a million YouTube views as well as Migos’s Why Not. The track was produced by the group’s eldest member Quavo and is the latest to get a video treatment from their new Culture III album.
It’s unknown whether their link-up resulted in any official talks of a Migos/Popcaan joint track, however, it isn’t unlikely given the enviable list of assists between each. Boasting features with the likes of Snoop Dogg and Beres Hammond, the Only Man She Want deejay has racked up over 50 international collaborations since he went from unknown talent to the Unruly Boss.
