Migos Talk Linking Popcaan In Jamaica: “He Hard Man”
After Dancehall star Popcaan made his surprise cameo in the music video for Why Not by rap trio, Migos on Monday, the group interviewed with The Breakfast Club today to talk on a few topics and their link up with the Unruly Boss.
Quavo, Offset, and Takeoff were in Jamaica last month to shoot the music video for We Going Crazy with Dj Khaled and H.E.R. The Atlanta-based rap stars said they were jetted to the island via a private plane courtesy of Khaled and treated to an exquisite stay complete with fine dining, thanks to “the best chef in the world.”
After shooting the We Going Crazy collab, the Hip Hip trio was invited by Khaled to “chill” and soak up some more island vibe. It was then that they decided to shoot the video for their track Why Not , which would go onto include a cameo with the 876 Gad.
Radio host, Angela Yee asked the men what was it like filming with Popcaan.
“Shout out to my boy Popcaan, he hard, he hard man,” replied Quavo, who went on to reveal that the Dancehall star surprisingly just ‘pulled up’ on the scene. “He pulled up” … “Like a hundred D” added Offset as they all sniggered recalling the experience.
In the Wyatt Winfrey- directed music video for Why Not, which is now trending at No. 28 on YouTube, the Migos trio flaunt super-sized stacks of cash in their heavy adornment of bling and take turns dropping verses of the track, while skidding their ATVs on the beach and other spots at their tropical stay in Jamaica. Poppy is seen hanging with the boys, blazing up his many blunts and bragging heavy cartons of weed.
The Firm And Strong deejay has become a highly sought commodity among international acts wanting a splice of some Jamaican Dancehall culture on their projects. His latest international features include collaborations with LA rapper Dave East on the track Unruly, Hip Hop vixen Megan Thee Stallion’s Intercourse, and rapper Drake on All I Need and Twist & Turn with Party Next Door.
