Govana Urges Youths To Invest Wisely In New Single ‘Chap Chop’: Watch

Dancehall artist Govana dropped his latest single Chap Chop today in a production courtesy of Strike Force and Chemist Records.

The Genna Genna deejay issues a firm lesson to the youths to invest wisely but if you decide to be a ‘chappa’ who spends foolishly on vanity then you will end up with a “chop in a yuh head.”

Govana says, “Bout yuh a chappa, yuh want a chop in a yuh head. .. How dutty [dirty] mattress and block fi be yuh bed boy? You plan fi live in a di likkle ole house till yuh dead boy?”

“Hype in a dance and weh yuh live stink like filth in a drain. Diamond a drip in a di chain and yuh modda haffi still take taxi and sick in a di rain?” he says to charge these “low budget choppas” who spend more than they can afford.

As a real plutocrat in the game, Govi Govi shares a little wisdom as to how it should be done. The “first chop, mama house yuh spend it pon”, next comes the house and the land. Then he describes how a true choppa spends his cash compared to a foolhardy individual. So instead of “wet up dem friend with Moscato,” in the party a true million will have stacked boxes of champagne to share among his entourage.

The Damaniac Visuals-directed music video is a vivid portrayal of the song’s concept. It shows a big-time flosser in the neighborhood flaunting his bricks of cash by his parked up Mark X and while snapping pics for the Gram, a few cutlass-wailing neighbors decide to ambush him. They chase him through the narrow throughways of the community in an effort to teach him a lesson, as they all know he’s nothing more than a sham.
