3T Krush Is Gunning For The ‘Top Dolla’
Dancehall artiste 3T Krush should be on everyone’s radar. He is hoping to ‘crush’ his rivals with his futuristic flows, savvy lyrics and his boyish good looks.
“The girls dem love mi swag,” the confident artiste whose real name is Tyrone Smith, said.
He ahs solidified a decent underground following in areas such as Manchester, Clarendon, Spanish Town, and upper St. Andrew with his unique brand of dancehall trap.
“My label is called Trap Hall Music, but I wouldn’t put myself in a category, mi just a do music overall, R & B, dancehall, rap, I know the rhythm would point to a particular brand, Trap Dancehall, but mi jus go with the vibes that the music gives me, and ah trap hall my ting de,” he said.
He grew up in the Spanish Town area in St. Catherine and he attended Jonathan Grant High School, then transferred to Kingston College. He was inspired by his older brother Blacksan to get involved in dancehall music. When he left high school, he recorded his first single, ‘Benz Truck’, a collaboration with his brother, Blacksan which he produced for his own label. On the strength of that single, he got gigs on shows such as Up to the Line After Champs and other small events at high schools in St. Catherine.
He eventually shot a video for the ‘Benz Truck’ project with flashy cars and iced-out jewels which generated over 29,000 views on YouTube.
He followed up that effort with the get-money anthem, Top Dolla, which features visuals with popular comedian Cuz. The song features 3T Krush’s mellow dancehall style where he showcases his finesse as a lyricist rather than hard-hitting bars and punchlines. The video has racked up over 200,000 views since its release two months ago.
“The response to the song has been great and more producers are starting to send beats my way, so I am planning to step up things this Summer,” he said.
3T Krush will be putting a lot of promotional muscle behind his new emotive banger “Answer” and its visuals which takes music enthusiasts on a journey through the mind of a young man in the throes of a terrible heartbreak as his girl has called it quits.
“People are loving this song, the concept, the visuals, I am expecting big things so far with the early response because everyone has had a broken heart. Music ah really therapy to me, if yu listen to my music, ah really my life mi a sing about,” he said.
