Black Queen Pushes Anti-Vax Stance With ‘Blood Clean’
Reggae artist Black Queen’s latest single, Black Clean featuring Utterance, touts her anti-vax stance.
“There are many medical risks, including autism, of being vaccinated. We cannot just go blindly in the direction of what these world governments are pushing, plus pharmaceutical companies only want to sell their products, regardless of the impact on the people who use them. To me, it is a personal choice and I choose not to,” she said.
Health officials have touted vaccines as being one of the major achievements in the 20th century, but not everyone agrees.
But some parents prefer “natural” or homeopathic treatments instead. These treatments can aid in relieving the symptoms of some conditions, but are not as effective in preventing disease.
In the meantime, Black Queen has embraced her Maroon heritage, adopting a more ancestral look for her latest video, Blood Clean.
“My Maroon ancestors live through me, so I am making myself available to them to continue the work. Maroon life is the root of black people’s heritage around here. It is the model of the institution of the African family that was torn apart by slavery, so that is why I am embracing my Maroon identity; I am not just a black queen, I am a Maroon queen,” Black Queen said.
The talented artiste also made a bit of history when she included an ancient ceremonial abeng in the video.
“The song which focuses on holistic living and clean toxin-free lifestyles, so the abeng is a call to the people to wake up. To my knowledge, it is the first time that a Maroon artefact of such significance is appearing in a modern day reggae music video. Wake up people!” remarked the artiste, whose given name is Semonie Giles.
She will be releasing her Blood Clean video and single featuring Utterance this week on her BQ Entertainment label.
Black Queen is known for his critically acclaimed Black and Proud EP which features several standout songs such as the title track, Black N Proud, Thankful, and Nobody Knows My Pain, a tribute to Nicko Chromatic who passed away after losing his battle with kidney disease. She has her own fashion line, BQ Entertainment Fashion and Jewelry, which she will be launching on August 1 with performances by Italee and others.
“I am promoting health, wellness, positive vibration and self-love. We have to go back to our authentic ancestral roots,” she said
