Popcaan On Drake Fallout Rumors: “Them Pray Fi The Link Mash Up”
Dancehall star Popcaan is slowly creeping out of his social media hiatus to shut down the tireless string of rumors that stirred in his absence. Today, he quieted the speculation that there was trouble between himself and Canadian rapper/OVO Sound executive, Drake.
“Loyalty is priceless you can’t run a deposit for some!! Them pray fi the link mash up🤣😂😂🤣 #ovo #unruly a the same ting,” the Party Shot deejay tweeted with a screenshot of a text exchange he and Drake had, presumably, on Monday when Popcaan celebrated his 33rd birthday.
The rumors, which were started by a YouTube show, alleged that Popcaan and Drake had cut-off connections after one slighted the other.

Drake was also the subject of the latest episode between the Unruly Boss & the Unbothered Ms. Rhona — Popcaan’s cool-headed Christian mom.
“Load up the Drake,” Popcaan teased in an Instagram video clip on Tuesday, to which Ms. Rhona responded, “Drake dey a Canada the last time me check.”
Last week, the Wants and Needs rapper also seemed to confirm that he and the 876Gud aren’t only ‘cool’ but they still share a valued friendship. Drake showed off some of his eclectic art collection, including a piece that was a portrait of Popcaan sporting one of his signature hairstyles. He had purchased the piece from Toronto artist Zallah Yasamin-Akbari for US$400 earlier this year.

Popcaan, whose real name is Andrae Sutherland, signed to Drake’s OVO Sound in 2018 before he released his third album Vanquish the following year on the Toronto-based record label. In August 2020, the Jamaican star followed up with his fourth album, FIXTAPE, which included the Drake collaborations All I Need and Twist & Turn featuring Partynextdoor.
Just before the release of FIXTAPE, the two stars linked up in person when Drake, according to Hollywood Life, was shooting a music video in Barbados for an upcoming album. Since music videos for All I Need or Twist & Turn haven’t been released, there’s speculation that the yacht shoot could be for a track featuring Popcaan on Drake’s upcoming album Certified Lover Boy (CLB).
In addition to Drake, the rumor mill has also alleged that the St. Thomas native has had fallouts with his cousin Unruly Cuz and with his Unruly proteje Quada.
Popcaan has since denounced the rumors concerning Unruly Cuz.
Meanwhile, his latest release is the summer song Pool Party, a joint production with TJ Records and Unruly Entertainment. It was accompanied by the third installment of Popcaan’s popular Abundant Life documentary.
