Dancehall starlet Moyann may be the genre’s Next Big Thing. The bubbly 21-year-old is currently holding the No. 4 position on the Jamaican video charts with her latest single, Too Good, featuring Intence.

“The feedback has been phenomenal so far, I knew it was a great song, and people would love it, it is awesome that people are showing it crazy love, people really love this song,” Moyann told DancehallMag.

Last week, the Too Good video was No. 1 on YouTube Trending Videos and No. 5 on YouTube Music. The song was released on the Zimi Entertainment/DJ Frass Records label on July 28.  Moyann has two songs on the Dancehall Official playlist, the biggest playlist on Spotify, and she has four songs on the Run Tings Apple Music Reggae playlist.

The singer is best known for Backseat, the audio version of which had over 850,000 views since its release.  She has also previously done collabs with Teejay (Bruk Pocket Man), Jahmiel (Don’t Wanna Lose You), and Shenseaa (No Limit), the latter of which was added to the HOT 97 mix show in May 2021. The No Limit single was also added on the BBC1Xtra playlist.

Speaking during a recent interview with Transparent on Taste Radio1, Shenseea praised Moyann’s talent and potential as an upcoming artist.

“I saw potential in Moyann, like, before you guys even knew about her,” Shenseea said.  “Like, she used to be so nervous, I used to tell her that yo listen ‘I was just like you, I see potential in you..all you have to do is be consistent..be yourself..do what you love’”.

“That actually motivated me to do a track with her because I want to help her, gain that confidence as well.  I respect her, I rate her…I try to look out for her, give her advice, whatever.  Yeah you know, it’s female empowerment.”

Meanwhile, Moyann performed at the Day Vibes Brunch at the Knutsford Court hotel in New Kingston on Independence Day, and then wowed a big audience at the Day Rave show in Moneague in St. Ann on August 6th.

Wearing a short black skirt and black tank top, with flowing green hair extensions, green socks and black boots, she worked the stage like a pro. She got her biggest forwards for the single, No Limit, with Shenseea with the females in the jampacked audience singing the lyrics word for word.

Moyann is working on an EP set for release in September.

“We are still choosing between songs, but it will be about four or five songs in all. I am super satisfied with this project because it will showcase different ranges, and a wider lyricsl content showing the full range of my talents, so I am pretty excited about that,” she said.

In mid-August, she will be releasing a music video for Vanilla, a video that was shot in Miami.

Moyann (whose full name is Moyann Montique) grew up in Montego Bay, where she attended Irwin High before graduating. While studying logistics at Caribbean Maritime University in Kingston, she decided to follow her musical passion during her sophomore year. Her parents supported her decision.

She eventually reached out to DJ Frass in 2017, sending him a demo. He eventually got back to her in 2018, and she inked a recording deal with DJ Frass Records. She burst on the scene with an attention-grabbing gem of a song, Netflixxx and Chill.
