Watch: Yendry And Damian Marley Team Up For ‘You’
Yendry’s latest song, You, with Damian ‘Jr. Gong’ Marley is one to watch. Released on August 6, the unexpected collaboration is a song is about two lovers who can’t seem to find harmony with each other.
On the Black Sheep Music production, Marley is in full character as he goes back and forth with Yendry: “That one here named ‘you’ // I know you think that I’m a hunting boy // But I don’t really wanna waste your time”.
In the music video, directed by Kieran Khan (Cardi B, Sean Paul, Buju Banton), Marley and Yendry can be seen taunting each other and playing into the camera their frustrations with each other.
The Dominican and Italian singer, whose musical style is a mix between Bachata, Merengue, salsa, R&B and electro, flows comfortably with the Gong’s reggae flow as she sings the hook “I’m not staying over tonight but if you had to choose, would you see me twice We keep on playing with fire, Someone’s gonna loose burning in desire”.
After entering X factor Italy in 2012 Yendry earned her a record deal with Sony Music Italy. In 2020 after the release of the singles Barrio and Nena she achieved international popularity and she signed a double record deal contract with RCA Records and Sony Music Latin. She was nominated Best New Artist at the 2021 MTV Millennium Awards.
