Popcaan Says New Album To Be Launched In Ghana And Everyone’s Welcome
Dancehall star Popcaan announced today that he will be launching his next studio album in Ghana and everyone’s ‘welcome’.
The news came via Twitter where he wrote, “I’m doing my next album launch in Ghana and everyone’s AKWABA.” The Ghanaian word Akwaba directly translates to mean ‘welcome’ in the Twi dialect. For those not familiar with the language, like his fellow Jamaicans, when someone addresses you this way, you should respond by saying ‘medaase’ (pronounced ‘me-daa-si’) which means ‘thank you’ in Twi.
i'm doing my next album launch in Ghana 🇬🇭 🔥🔥🔥 and everyone's AKWABA✊✊✊

Popcaan is currently in the UK working and reconnecting with a few industry friends. He performed at a free concert at the London O2 Arena with English band Gorillaz on Tuesday night and thanks to London photographer TeoSnaps, fans were treated to some cool new photos of the Unruly Boss today.
In a video shared two days ago, the El Chapo deejay also toasted his upcoming album. “Cheers to the new project weh mi about fi give the world,” he said. “One for me, [sips] one for those who support mi music.”
The deejay’s new album will be his fifth studio project, following Where We Come From (2014), Forever (2018), Vanquish (2019), and FIXTAPE (2020).
The Firm And Strong singer has a deep connection with the West African country, so much so that he reportedly bought a house in Ghana last year January. He shared the coup with his Instagram followers, posting three video clips as he walked through the hallways of his chic-looking mansion.
Though his visits appear sparse, whenever the Unruly Boss touches down in the motherland he always gets the superstar treatment from his African fanbase. Upon his ground kissing arrival in Ghana last year, simply commuting from the airport was near impossible for Poppy having to face a swarm of fans.
With his next album launch in Ghana, Popcaan could be expected to team up with some of his previous African collaborators and possibly some new ones. The Family deejay has already collaborated with Ghanaian artists, J. Derobie on the Poverty (Remix) and Samini on the single Violate that features Fry Yiy.
Other African stars that he has joined forces with are Nigerian singers, Runtown on the track Oh Oh Oh (Lucie), Mr. Eazi with Body So Good, and Willie X.O. on Comfort You featuring American rapper, Tory Lanez. Plus he has several hits with Nigerian heavyweight, Davido on the tracks Risky, Dun Rich, My Story, and Comfortable that features PREME. He has even teased new music with the African giant, Shatta Wale, however, the two have no official releases just yet.
