The Worl’ Boss Vybz Kartel, who is serving a life sentence for the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams, has maintained his innocence and is confident that he’ll be freed after the UK Privy Council decides on his final appeal.  The Dancehall star has been incarcerated for almost ten years, but that has not stopped the Gaza Boss from releasing new music and interacting with his fans.

In a new prison interview with Fox5 News reporter, Lisa Evers, which was aired last night and which is only part one of more to come, Kartel said the Jamaican system was out to get him. Comparing his cell conditions to that of a dungeon, Kartel revealed he is located in the attic, where it’s dark, hot, and furnished with four bunk beds and a toilet. Despite all of this, the singer revealed that he is in a better place mentally than physically.

“Yeah because I was sick for a few years, so definitely I’m recovering physically, but mentally I’ve always been in a good place because I know I’m innocent and I know I’m coming out.”

The interview was complemented by the release of new photos of the Worl’ Boss, which show a much healthier Kartel, sporting new kicks and with visible weight gain on his face.

Reassuring Lisa Evers, Vybz Kartel declared confidently that his freedom is certain, and claimed that his imprisonment was an attempt to get rid of the influential King of Dancehall, not the man Adidjah Palmer.

“Yes of course I believe that, and to be totally honest, the system really wanted me thrown away, it was never about me being charged for a murder, it was about getting rid of Vybz Kartel, not Adidjah Palmer, the person.”

Explaining further, Kartel spoke of the Gaza and Gully feud and the supposed impact that the ‘system’ believed it had on the Jamaican populace.

“Because they [the system] told us… they say we have too much influence. If you remember when Mavado and I had that little feud a few years ago, we even went to King’s House which is like the home of the Prime Minister and they were telling us that we were leading the kids astray and that if we don’t stop what we’re doing we’re not going to get any permission to do shows and stuff like that. So it has always been about the influence that Vybz Kartel has.”

Crediting his mental health and wellness to his array of hobbies, Vybz Kartel said he occupied his time by reading, writing, watching movies and listening to music. He also added that he has met cool people whilst in prison whom he can ‘talk about stuff’ with.

Kartel boasted that since he was behind bars he has written thousands of songs. In the last two years, he has released three full-length albums, while his song Fever, released in 2016, was certified Gold by RIAA in June of 2020.

“Lots of songs, I can’t even count, at one point I was sending out like 3, 4 books a month because when I write the songs, I usually send the books out when I get visits, thousands of songs really, and I know not all of them are going to be able to get released maybe in the span of my career, but I just keep, you know, writing and writing… makes me better.”

Kartel’s attorney, Isat Buchanan has filed a fresh evidence motion based on the findings of a British Digital Expert, who found that Kartel’s cell phone had been tampered with prior to his trial. With the supposed newfound evidence, Kartel’s case should be heard by the UK’s Privy Council, Jamaica’s final Court of Appeal, in 2022.

“Yes, God save the Queen because she’s the only one that can save me now,” Kartel said.

After two prolific decades in the music industry, Kartel recently released his 16th album titled Born Fi Dis.
